Tri-ρ-fluorophenylethylene has been synthesized by the action of ρ-fluorophenylmagnesium bromide upon ethyl ρ-fluorophenylacetate or up on α-ρ-fluorophenyl-P-fluoroacetophenone, as well as by the action of P-fluorobenzylmagnesium chloride upon ρ, ρ'-difluorobenzophenone.The procedures for the preparation of the intermediates have also been given.The reaction of ethyl chloroacetate with
m-fluoro-ρ-methoxyphenylmagnesium bromide has been found to yield α-(
m-fluoro-ρ-methoxyphenyl)-
m-fluoro-ρ-methoxyacetophenone or tris-(
m-fluoro-ρ-methoxyphenyl) ethylene, depending on the molar ratio of the reactants.
