Based on statistical data, I studied the causes of emigration as indicated in Figs. 1-8 with result as follows.
1. It can hardly be said that emigration from this coast is due solely to economic reasons through lack of natural productivity of the regions.
2. The causes of emigration from this coast differ from those from the Tazima District and from the Okinawa Islands.
3. The district which is preeminant in emigrants agrees with the one that has a high index-number for fishermen and with villages having a low index-number for agriculture and forestry.
4. People emigrate from villages that have a relatively high density of population.
According to these facts, non-intensive agriculture and decline in fishing lead to emigration from said coast. But the above causes are mostly of a negative character. The positive causes of emigration from this district will be discussed in the 2nd report.
