1. The effect of Intranasal Beclomethasone dipropionate in patients suffering from Japanese cedar pollinosis was studied on double-blind pararell intergroup comparative test. The success rate and utility rate of the drug were 73.7% and 68.8%, respectively. There were significant differences between the drug and placebo in each evaluation based on doctor's impression, patient's impression and diary cards.
2. The trial in Japanese cedar pollinosis was more of a problem than that in perennial allergic rhinitis in the following points.
1) More patients dropped out.
2) Contraindicated drugs were more often concomitantly used.
3) The period when pollens were scattered was short and there were regional difference in the pollen counts. Thus, it was difficult to correct the effect of nonuniformity of pollen counts.
