    The author underwent an operation on his deviation of nasal septum for the neurosis of nasal origin 50 years ago. He was just No.3 patient in the clinic of the late famous Prof. Dr. Ino. kubo, who had studied at Prof. Killian's clinic (the originator of Killian's operation for deviation of nasal septum). Since that time, the author's obstruction, asthma, palpitation, labored breathing, and abnormal sensation in sleep have disappeared.
    The following points are covered by this report with regard to the operations the au-thor has carried out since.
    1. Palpitation and labored breathing
    2. Falling sensation in sleep
    3. Asthma of nasal origin
    4. Gastric symptoms of nasal origin
    5. Nasal symptoms of gastric origin
    6. Tremor and septum operation
    7. Dementia praecox and septum operation
    8. Septum operation and age.

    The complaints of a 64 years old woman were tumor of the right side of the neck, swelling of the right tonsil, and pain in swallowing. By histo-pathologic examination the tumor was diagnosed as lymphepitheliar cancer.
    It seemed difficult to perform peroral removal of this tumor extending into the surrounding tissues over the capsule. However, the tumor was removed successfully under the ligation of the external carotic artery.
    The X-ray therapy has been applied after the operation and no symptom or sign of re-lapse has been observed in two years and a half to date. It seems that a complete healing has been effected.

    Statistical observations were made on 26 cases of esophageal stenoses due to swallowing of caustics.
    The main results are as follws:
    1) Predilection place;
    In 42.9% of the cases, the predilection place of scar stenoses in a high degree was found just above the functional narrow portion, so named provisionally and reported by the author previously,
    2) Mechanism of stenoses;
    The mechanism of these scar stenoses seems to be due to the peculiarity of the structure and function of the functional narrow portion, and the functional stenoses and obstruction resulted from the spasm caused by the stimulation of the caustics.
    3) Therapy;
    As for the therapy, it is believed that the most effective and sure method is to apply the retrograde bouginage after the complete formation of scar tissuse.

    Two cases of pharyngeal candida which seemed to be thrush in the local finding and attended with no ulceration macroscopically are reported. These thrush-like furs were hard to disappear and did not form ulcer for several months.
    Unfortunately, the first case died of lung moniliasis. In the second case candida alb. was found in the urine, and was cured after tonsillectomy applied to remove the focus localized in the palatine tonsils. In both the cases, antibiotics were not applied before their onset, and special attention is called to obstinate thrush-like furs in the mouth or the pharynx of adults.

    A rare case of eardrum-malformation is reported. A 69 years old man had a normal eardrum at the right side, but on the left side, it appeared as if two eardrums were connected with each other, on which a connective tissuelike wrinkle was seen at the border of the two.
    This is quite a rare case of malformation and nothing like this can be found in the literatures. It is supposed that the cause of it is perhaps related to some growthinhibiting mechanism at the later fetal stage or at the early stage after parturition.

    On the mechanism of injection of sodium bicarbonate, by which Meniere's disease and vascularneurosis are treated there has developed a variety of opinions, i. e., to release spasm of peripheral artery or to improve osmotic edema and osmotic hemorrhage by influence for blood plasma, etc.

    This experiment, therefore, as the basic experiment, was designed through the resorption time of an artificial skin wheal to demonstrate the influence of injection of sodium bicarbonate, by which the resorption of water in tissues is affected.
    The wheal resorption time was shortened in the group with the injection of sodium bicarbonate, in contrast to the intact one.
    Through influence to blood and dilation of peripheral capillary by the injection of sodium bicarbonate, exudation of water from vessels to extracapillary tissues is restricted and decreased at arterial end in the blood capillary system and transportation of the water from extracapillary tissues to vessels are increased, and then some changes are possible at the equilibrating point.

    We have often dealt with the advisability of performing operations under hypotension brought about by the application of Hexamethonium. The use of this drug for surgical purposes appears to have been out of favor in the otorhinological field. We assert here that this method of operation is easily applicable, gives rise to no dangerous result, and is attended with no untoward secondary reaction. This method has shown its advantage in many cases, most particularly in the operation in the accessory sinuses where profuse hemorrhage is otherwise unavoidable. Under Hexamethoniuniinduced hypotension the ethmoid sinuses can be opened without being troubled by bleeding and the operation is performed in the clear visual field of the surgeon in a much shorter duration of time.

    Thirty-one case of esophageal foreign bodies observed in the last three years and a half are statistically discussed. Although Jackson's esophagoscope was used in most cases, Ono's esophagoscope for the upper esophagus is recommended as a handy instrument for extracting these foreign bodies, the majority of which are found in the upper part of the esophagus.

    1) 59 cases of foreign bodies treated in the author's clinic in 1954 are classified by location, and particularly interesting cases are discussed in detail.
    2) As a special feature of the university clinic, esophageal and bronchial foreign bodies were more than otorhinolaryngeal foreign bodies.
    3) Esophageal foreign bodies were most frequently found in the first narrowing, and they were extracted mostly by Robert's forceps. There was only one case of complication of periesophageal abscess, that resulted in death.
    4) Five foreign bodies in the bronchi were extracted under the upper bronchoscopy, in two cases of which tracheotomy was necessary afterwards. It is felt that in this the constitution of the patient is more concerned than the technique and the duration of the operation.
    5) Foreign bodies in the paranasal sinuses is rare, but special attention should be paid to the postoperative foreign bodies in the maxillary sinus.

    Als eine Behandlungsmethode der offenen Nasensprache oder derartiger Sprachstörung der Verfasser hat das Paraffin (Schmelzpunkt: 48°, 2-10.5 cc) in der Tiefe die hinteren Epipharynxwand injiziert.
    Wegen der tiefen Einspritzung die Funktion des Passavantschen Wulstes wird erhalten und die Verschiebbarkeit des Paraffindepots ist ganz minimal.
    Der Verfasser hat diese Behandlung an 9 Fällen ausgeführt und das gute Resultat an 8 Fällen bekommen.

    The author recently experienced a case of penicillin-anaphylaxis in treating chronic sinusitis. After a female patient, aged 23, had penicillin poured into the maxillary sinus and sprayed into the nasal cavity, she showed penicillin-anaphylaxis. The clinical progress and the bibliographical study of this case are reported.
    The author considered that this case belonged to Weiss's contact dermatitis and the hypersensitivity had been acquired by penicillininjection in the operation of appendicitis performd in January this year. He considered also that, as Goltman said, the patient had been made sensitive by inhalation of filamentous fungi, because she was a worker at a bakery shop, and her constitutional defect also contributed to this hypersensitivity.
    For preventive measures, patients should to asked if they have Lad penicillin in the past and given the examination of Mayer's intracuticular reaction. But to clinicians, spray of a small amount of penicillin into the nasel cavity is convenient and no less reliable than the general allergic examination. The author stresses that clinicians should endeavor to prevent penicillin-anaphylaxis which tends to increase.

    Studies were made on the literatures available on the cervical cyst and fistula, and two cases experiences by the authors are reported.
    It is concluded that;
    1) the cervical cyst and fistula should be considered to be of multiple origin, and
    2) it is advisable to try the step-ladder method of operating on the fistula.
    One of the two cases experienced by the authors had ciliated epithelium and another had pavement epithelium, and they were classif iced in Type II of Baily and seemed to be of branchiogenic origin.

    In the otorhinolaryngological field, fatigue is often one weighty factor of the causes of acute external otitis, acute middle ear catarrh, eczema of the external ear, labyrinthine deafness, rhinitis anterior sicca, acute stomatitis, acute tonsillitis, acute pharyngitis, acute laryngitis, etc.
    The author reports three cases;
    1) stomatitis aphthosa, man aged 17; 2) acute laryngitis, man aged 38; and 3) acute middle ear catarrh, woman aged 71, where fatigue is perhaps a major factor of the causes of those diseases. It is emphasized that the physicians should give their mind to fatigue in the treatment of those diseases.

    When a patient (45 years old female) visited us with sudden stop of stinking rhinorroea lasting since about 26 years ago, obstructed feeling of nose in right side and swelling of the right cheek, we had a doubt on maxillar carcinoma from her clinical findings. But according to the repeated histological examinations it was decided to be a maxillar fibroma. Perfect recovery after the Denker's radical operation.
