Endolymphatic hydrops was produced in 16g uinea pigs by obliteration of the endolymphatic sac. The serial section was made about 20μ thick, and its inner ear findings was observed under light microscope.
    The results were as follows;
The ductus reuniens was dilated, and their diameters became 0.10-0.14mm (normal control unoperated ear showed the diameter of it under 0.03mm). Its dilatation became maximum within 12 hours after the operation of the endolymphatic sac. The utriculo-endolymphatic valve was open in about one-third cases in 16 guinea pigs (normal control unoperated ear showed the valve almost closed). The valves were closed in 12 hours and 1 day after the operation, however it was open in case of 2 days. The utricular duct and valve was slightly made narrow again in the cases of 3 weeks and 2 months after the operation. The cause of narrowing of them was considered that the extremely dilated saccule compressed the lower part of the utricular wall.

A retrospective investigation of the results of the traditional stripping technique for polypoid vocal cord or Reinke's edema has revealed that the pathological voice was not improved in more than 20 % of the patients. The failure appeared to result from the removal of the mucosa around the edge of the vocal cord which is very important for the vibrator. Accordingly, we developed an improved technique in which a thin spindle-shaped removal of the epithelium is made on the superior surface of the vocal cord and the content of the polypoid tissue is sucked out through the wound. A similar procedure is added on the inferior surface when necessary. The technique may be called sucking technique.
Among 35 cases operated with stripping technique, the voice recovered normal in 16, became improved in 11, and was not improved in 8 cases; whereas the voice recovered normal in 11 and became improved in 9 of 20 cases which had been operated with sucking technique. The differences in the results were statistically significant.

A case of WEGENER'S granulomatosis which was found in 28-year-old man was reported. The initial symptome of the patient was nasal trouble, but renal failure joined later, and several clinical investigations such as serological, immunological, electrophoretic examinations and renal function tests etc., were carried out during the course.
Following two points were discussed from the results which was derived the above examinations.
    1) On immunological aspect, humoral site of immunity especially participates in various clinical features of this disease.
    2) Renal function tests of the patient showed renal insufficiency in spite of serological BUN and electrocytes were within normal limit.
Considering from these results, the importance of the humoral immunity on WEGENER'S disease and of early treatment for uremia were emphasized.

A 71-year-old male had complained of hoarseness, swallowing pain, and swelling of cervical lymph node persisting during several days. The symptoms had been suspected to be caused by cervical esophageal cancer by a practitioner who had first examined him. The symptoms were improved by the administration of antibiotics. Then through esophagoscopy, a piece of kelp was discovered caught in the right pyriform fossa and could easily be removed by forceps.
Eventually it became clear that the symptoms in this case resulted from the infection caused by the sharp edge of the piece of dried kelp. From this experience the conclusion is drawn as follows:
    1) Even a piece of dried kelp can be a foreign body in esophagus.
    2) When the patient is unaware that a foreign body has lodged somewhere in the air or food passage, it may be difficult to discover in diagnosis, especially if the foreign body is X-ray transparent.
    3) Because of the higher frequency of such foreign body accidents as this case with the increasing population of elderly people, special attentions should be given to the complainings and symptoms in those patients who are wearing artificial denture.

were reviewed. The age and symptome of the patients showed the same tendency as in the past. The number of peanut foreign body had increased and the nature of plastic foreign body had changed. 53% of the patients had foreign bodies in their right lungs, and especially heavy material like hard artificials showed a tendency to stay in the right. Observation of chest X-ray showed that most of them had abnormal findings in their affected side, and that few of them had compensatory emphysemas accompanied with atelectasis of the affected side.
The problems in the cases of long term stagnation of foreign bodies more than thirty days were discussed in this paper.

In order to observe various factors which influence human body movements, basic studies have been conducted. Subject's fine body movements in the standing posture, on a metal plate which was supported by three points, were amplified and recorded on the X-Y recorder. Area of body movements was measured by the planimeter (raw data). Obtained data was transformed by the following formulae:
    _??_
The results obtained are as follows:
    (1) A normal distribution in the area of the body sway was determined by measuring body movements of 263 normal subjects. The normal range of body sway was bellow the 70cm2 (consisting of 85.6% of population), the borderline range was 70-85cm2 (5.7%), the abnormal range was above 85cm2 (8.7%).
    (2) Average area (raw data) of the body sway was 24.98cm2 for male sujects, and 18.77cm2 for female subjebts (P<0.01). However, the transformed values of both sexes were not found significant.
    (3) The areas of body sway in the normal subjects were transformed into logarithms, and it was statistically inferred that both raw data and log. transformed data were normally distributed.
    (4) The body movements of 19 healthy college students were measured during the following conditions: i) with the eyes closed, ii) with the eyes open, iii) with earpieces, iv) after body rotation, v) after mental calculation. The body movement was significantly smaller with the eyes open than with the eyes closed.
    (5) Comparisons of body movements in blind, deaf and control groups were made. The group was also subgrouped into a child group around 10 years old and a young adult group around 20 years old. Both blind and deaf young adult groups showed significantly larger body sway than the control group. The deaf child group showed less body movement than did the blind and control groups.
    (6) Body movements of young adults and the old ages were compared. The older group showed significantly greater body movements than the younger adult group.
    (7) Body movement and the results of psychological tests were correlated. Psychological tests used were the Kyushu Medical Inventory, Manifest Anxiety Scale, Selfrating Depression Scale, Cornell Medical Index, Yatabe-Guilford Personality Test, Picture-Frustration Study and Maudsley Personality Inventory. In general the subjects who complained more and were socially less adjusted showed greater body movements, some of which differences were statistically significant.
    (8) The relationship between the pattern of microvibration and body movements was not found to be significant.
