192 silhouettes combining various types of Women's coats and skirts have statistically been prepared on the basis of the following factors and their levels. The factors used in preparing silhouettes are hip-line of skirt (two levels ; A1-A2), bottom-line of skirt (three levels ; B1-B3), skirt length (four levels ; C1-C4), waist-line of coat (two levels ; D1-D2), bottom line of coat (two levels ; E1-E2), and coat length (two levels ; F1-F2) . Thiety women students were asked to express each silhouette by 5 kind kinds of terms expressing the degrees of refinement, harmony, boldness, heaviness, and formality. The cluster analysis has shown that
    (1) Each term expressing silhouette image can be classified by the different factors. In particular, terms expressing silhouettes are much influenced by the skirt length and the waist-line of coat. Owing to an interaction between each factor, silhouettes have been expressed by the combined image terms different from terms expressed by single factor.
    (2) These silhouettes tend to be expressed by the terms combining some images.

Cotton sewing threads 3 waxed and 3 unwaxed threads, were soaked in water and dried in the air under three different levels of tension, i.e., 4g, 30g and 70g. During such process, the variation of tension and shrinkage were determined to study the seam puckering in launderings. Results are summarized as follows:
    (1) Although waxed threads increase their tension remarkably in water, unwaxed threads reduce their tension. Unwaxed yarns under low tension of 4g, however, increase their tension in water.
    (2) After drying, the tension reduces less than that before soaking.
    (3) If dried threads are relaxed, unwaxed threads more shrink than waxed threads do.
    (4) If the tension is relaxed in water, waxed threads more shrink than unwaxed threads do.
    (5) Only small differences are found between the shrinkage of waxed and unwaxed threads, if the threads are both relaxed in water and in the air.
