The purpose of this study is to clarify evaluation for figure of the adult females silhouette and the relationship between the figure and the dress silhouette. The visual materials of figure evaluation are 7 silhouettes which are selected from 689 adult females using the method of principal component analysis. The visual material of dress is 4 silhouette (A line, H line, X line, balloon) . We have measured these figure evaluation and combination image of dress and body silhouette by using semantic differential method.
First, in the figure evaluation, 6 factors are summarizd with the method of factor analysis. These factors are (1) trunk, (2) leg, (3) arm, (4) bust, (5) length, and (6) hip.
Secondly, in the relationship between the figure and the dress silhouette 5 factors are summarized with the method of factor analysis. These factors are (1) balance, (2) suitableness, (3) physical type, (4) powerfulness, and (5) age.
Lastly, we have shown that the figure type affects on the image of women's clothing.
