This report is to investigate the relation between the concentration of alkaline builder added to bulk liquid and the detergency of foam washing. Several concentrations of sodium methasilicate were added to the bulk solution of sodium oleate, sodium palmitiate and dodecylbenzensulfonate (DBS) . As the foaming properties, the foaming power and the foam stability were measured by the method of Ross & Miles, and the blow ratio of a foam washing machine was measure, too . The detergency of foam washing was studied using a natural dirt on a collar, the artificial cluster dirt and the C type of foam washing machine . The subcrupted value from detegency of foam washing by detergency of immersion washing (=ΔD) was used as an indication of relative detergency of foam washing. In the case of the soap solution, foaming power and the foam stability decreased and the blow ratio increased with increasing the concentration of the builder . But reverse tendancies were obtained with DBS solution. These results may concern the surface viscocity of the foam films. The effects of foaming properties on the detergency of foam washing were revealed by the fact that ΔD of DBS increased and ΔD of soap decreasd with increasing the concentration of builder added to the bulk wash liquid.

With a view to grasping the aesthetical relationship between the shape of young women's lower extremities and their skirt's length, shapes of their lower extremities were classified by the type on the basis of the values of the measured shapes by means of the cluster analysis, and 6 representative subjects were selected. Furthermore, these subjects were made to wear tight skirts of different lengths, and were subjected to the organoleptics by 50 examiners according to SD method with respect to 4 pairs of adjectives, i. e. harmonicinharmonic, casual-formal, refined-crude and adult-childish. The results revealed that the most harmonic skirt is 60 cm long as a whole and the most enharmonic skirt's length of 65 cm out of 50-70 cm, which is generally more frequently worn. In terms of the relationship between the above estimation and the shape of the lower extremity, the length and width of the lower extremity were revealed to be involved in the estimation of ‘harmonic-inharmonic’and‘refined-crude’and the skirt's length and both the shape of the lower extremity and the skirt's length were revealed to have a great influence on the estimation of‘casual-formal’and‘adult-childish’, respectively.

For the purpose of energy saving and high performance of the foam washing, the availability of the application of protease in the detergents for the foam washing was discussed.
    1. The stability of protease activity can be improved by addition of Ca2+in the bulk solution which is formulated by SDS, APE and PVA, not only in the bulk but also in the foam medium.
    2. By the foam washing, the gelatin soils can be much removed from cotton fabrics at the lower flow rate of blowing than the higher one. And the effects of hydrolysis by protease on the removal of gelatin are also larger at the lower flow rate. The other, the gelatin soils are much removed at the higher speed of shake of incubator by the soak method of washing.
    3. In conclusion, the high availability of protease in the foam washing system is deduced. Because, the high performance of washing will be obtained at the condition of high stability of protease activity by the multiplication effects of the hydrolysis by protease and the mechanical power of soil removal by the suction of dynamic foam.
