An experiment on differential threshold for pressure on the front and back parts of a lower leg was conducted using eighteen women as subjects. Another experiment for examining compressive feeling of trial stockings, which are controlled their clothing pressure distribution by changing loop length in course direction, was conducted.
The results obtained are as follows:
1) Differential threshold for pressure on the front part of a lower leg was constant ranging from 0 to about 25 gf/cm
2.
2) Differential threshold for pressure on the back part of a lower leg changed with the level of pressure. When the pressure is low, it was not as sensitive as that on the front part. When the pressure is more than 20 gf/cm
2, it was as sensitive as that on the front part.
3) Comfortable value of pressure on the front part of a lower lei was lower than that on the back hart.
4) Compressive feeling was more influenced by pressure on the front part of a lower leg than that on the back part.
