To study color factors relating to the image of wearing of
furisode, the authors conducted a sensory examination by means of not only the questionnaire survey but also the SD method using wearing images of
furisode prepared by computer graphics with young women selected as subjects.
As a result of the questionnaire survey, it became clear that favorite colors of the majority of subjects are black and warm colors for
kimono, and gold or silver for
obi (belt) .
As aesthetic factors of
wafuku (Japanese-style clothing), the colors and patterns of
kinmono and
obi play an important role while, on the other hand, as style factors of the wearer, the subjects also mentioned factors unique to
wafuku such as small bust, large waist, small hip in addition to small face, tallness,
etc.
As a result of the sensory examination, a favorable evaluation was given to silver
obi for pink
kimono, and
furisode in similar colors for
obiage (obi sash) and
obijime (obi band), but the evaluation of black
kimono was rather low. As a result of factor analysis, it was found that the factors of activity and potency are influenced by the chroma of
kimono, while the factors of evaluation are affected by the hue of
kimono. As the image of wearing as a whole, the influence of the color of
kimono was the strongest followed by the obi color, but any influence of the
obiage and
obijime was hardly observed.
