This study aims to clarify experimentally shadow effect of shadow-type pantyhose available on the market in Japan. The pantyhose used for our experiments are those of beige color with a shadow color part, whose center of both sides is deeper beige than other part. The shadow aims to present legs of wearers thinner, straight and more aesthetically. The authors have examined the shadow effect by visual survey and optical experiments in comparison with the shadow effect of shadow-type pantyhose and that of ordinary pantyhose without a shadow part. From the results, we have confirmed that the shadow-type pantyhose with normal and deeper beige color is effective, but those of pale beige color is not effective.

The existence of the ideal skin color would be suggested, if the beauty of skin color is decided whether clothes color is well-matched or ill-matched to the skin color of wearing person. A final purpose of this study is to propose a systematic technique of the fashion color coordination as a color planning method in clothes field. First of all, verification has been conducted whether the “ideal skin color” as a standard exists or not. At the same time, the influence of the clothes color on the ideal skin color has also been examined.
In the experiment, it was attempted to present the “ideal skin color” by the method of adjustment by applying the color selection program using a computer system. As a result, the similar RGBvalues, though a little difference was admitted, were obtained on each background colr. On the other hand, the simultaneous contrast effect was confirmed by a comparison between the background color and the “ideal skin color”. Therefore, the exitence of clothes which make the skin color of everybody approach to the “ideal skin color”by the simultaneous contrast effect of its color, was suggested.
When the background color was assumed to be a standard of N5 (Munsell Value), the XYZ values of the “ideal skin color” Xs = 51, Ys = 48, and Zs = 32 was obtained.
