The plants were collected from Yao-shi in October 1976, April, June and August 1977. The essential oils were obtained in yields of 0.06, 0.01, 0.05 and 0.02% by steam distillation, respectively.
The essential oils were investigated by gas chromatography and each component was identified by comparison of its infrared and mass spectral data with those of authentic sample.

The major components of the essential oil were alkanes, acetates, alcohols and phenolic compounds. The essential oil of April contained less octadecane and more phenolic compounds, compared with the essential oils obtained in other seasons.
