The transfer factors of long-lived radionuclides from soil to polished rice were measured by ICP-MS and conventional radiometric methods. The transfer factors showed the following tendency, alkali metals: K≥Rb>
137Cs>Cs,
alkaline earth metals: Ca≥
90Sr>Sr>Ba,
lanthanoids: Eu>La⋅Ce⋅Nd⋅Sm⋅Gd⋅Lu.
The transfer factors (average) of typical elements were as follows,
40K :
1.0×10-1, Rb:
3.3×10-2,
137Cs:
2.6×10-3,
90Sr:
3.8×10-3, Ba:
5.0×10-4, La:
1.5×10-4, Eu:
5.8×10-4, Bi:
2.2×10-4, Th:
1.5×10-4, U:
1.9×10-4.
It was found that the transfer factors of radioactive (fallout) 90Sr
and 137Cs
were 3-5 times higher than those of stable (
native) Sr
and Cs,
respectively.

Myocardial SPECT was performed in seven patients with Ischemic heart disease using 99mTc-
tetrofosmin (
PPN 1011)
and 201Tl.
A comparison of findings between 99mTc-
tetrofosmin and 201Tl
on each segment by segmental analysis showed concordance in 70% of total segments and showed discordance in 45% of posterior-inferior segments. Positive predictive value of 99mTc-
tetrofosmin was superior than that of 201Tl
in the infero-posterior segments. 99mTc-
Tetrofosmin was considerd to be an useful agent for evaluation of myocardial perfusion in the ischemic heart disease, especially in infero-posterior myocardial wall of the left ventricle.

In order to investigate metabolic mechanism of several essential metals in injured mice leading to recovery after irradiation of r-rays with a sublethal dose, mice were exposed to doses of 4 Gy leading to the recovery or 10 Gy leading to death, and injected with their radioactive tracers of 54Mn,
58Co,
59Fe
and 65Zn
24 h later. Then, retention rates of the nuclides in whole body concerning with the elimination and presence rates of the elements in their tissues and organs 7 days post the injection, were measured and compared between these radiation doses, metals and organs. A difference of the retention rates between the doses was observed for 58Co
and 65Zn,
and that of the presence rates found also in these elements and organs, particularly for 59Fe,
a remarkable decreasing in blood and increasing in liver, kidney and bone with doses. Such a difference shows that of metabolisms leading to recovery or death.

An access control system with a personal computer has been developed for radioisotope facility. The developed system is composed of a NEC PC-9801 UX2 personal computer having two of 1 Mbyte floppy-disk drivers and extended random access memory (2 Mbyte), automatic door and two of non-contact identification card scanners (Nippon ID System Inc. ) . The identification card scan-ners are controlled by the personal computer via RS-232C. By the use of the non-contact identification card, user's name and entrance and leaving times are recorded automatically in a file.
