This study is the addition of radioactive iodine on cobalt-bleomycin without changing its tumor-localizing properties.
Cobalt-bleomycin demethy-A2 was synthesized by adding CoCl2 to bleomycin demethyl-A2 aqueous solution.
On the other side, 3-125I-iodobenzylalcohol was prepared by replacing iodine of 3-iodobenzylalcohol with iodine-125I. And 3-125I-iodobenzyliodide was produced by adding P2I4 to 3-125I-iodobenzylalcohol in CH2Cl2.
    3-125I-iodobenzyl-cobalt-bleomycin was synthesized by coupling 3-125I-iodobenzyliodide to cobalt-bleomycin demethyl-A2.
3-125I-iodobenzyl-cobalt-bleomycin was injected intravenously to tumor-bearing mice. In vivo distributions of this compound were measured from 60 minutes to 24 hours after injection.
Accumulation of this compound in tumor tissue was much more than other normal organs except kidney and liver. This new labeled compound showed considerably strong affinity to malignant tumor.

It is reported that a metal surface coated with oxide layer is activated by irradiation, and that surface properties such as wettability and corrosion are changed. Zr is able to generate electrons and holes on the surface of it and oxidation-reduction reaction occurs from them when an irradiation of γ-ray. This phenomenon is called Radiation-Induced Surface Activation. We developed a highly accurate differential-type space charge measurement system and measured the charged particles generated from Zr, ZrO2, Zr-4 irradiated with low level γ-ray.

Experimental programs at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC) have started. On March 30th in 2010, proton beams collided at 7 TeV in the LHC, at the highest center-of-mass energy the humankind has ever produced. The machine will be operated almost continuously until the end of 2011, providing many collision data to explore new physics in the TeV region. The LHC has recovered from the unfortunate helium-leak incident in September 2009. In this article, after describing the history of the consolidation works in the LHC, physics prospects from the 2 year run are discussed.

Total scattering method with pulsed neutron is expecting to develop its research subject wider by realization of very intense pulsed neutron source of J-PARC. The method will not be no longer limited to disordered system such as liquid and amorphous materials. Since the high intensity total diffractometer, NOVA, also has abilities of versatile powder diffractometer and low-resolution small-angle scattering instrument, it can analyze variety of materials structure. For disordered structure analysis, which is still the strongest point of the total diffractometer, structural modeling on computers and comprehensive use of X-ray diffraction are important. Also, inelastic experiments based on the diffraction data analysis are promising to obtain direct information to understand materials properties and function.
