By casting aqueous solution of silk fibroin on the glass, nylon6, and nylon66 at room temperature, fibroin films with
Silk I crystal forms were obtained with good reproducibility at the examined fibroin concentrations. These casted films were stretched up to 1000% by moistening with water at 30°C for 6 hours. X-ray diffraction study showed that unlike the previous works on
Silk I film, the obtained films were still kept
Silk I form after 1000% stretching. By using these highly streched films, three reflections with the spacing of 3.75, 2.87, and 2.18_??_ were newly indexed as (121), (042), (211) and (221), respectively.
