Employing the method of Takamatsu and Gomori, the author has examined phosphatase reaction in the gingivas of dogs with experimental tuberculosis. The following result were obtained.
1) In the gingivas of dogs with experimental tuberculosis, it was not recognized in the tissue both in macro and in micro pathohistology.
2) According to my former experiment, the phosphatase reaction in the gingivas of tuberculosis p atient could not be recognized in the epithelial tissue. On the contrary, in the gingivas of dogs, it was observed prominent phosphatase reaction in the epithelial tissue, the horny substance.
3) There was no significant difference in the intensities of the phosphatase reaction seen in both quantity of bacilli and time elapsed after tubercle inoculation. However, in case of the inflammatory infiltration, the phosphatase reaction tested at the term of 30 to 40 days showed more decrease than that of the term of 60 days in case of bacilli inoculation of 3 to 4mg. While in case of the inoculation of 5mg, almost all the cases showed intense reaction irrelevant to the terms.
4) We c onsider that phosphatase reaction, in a word, indicate increase and decrease in proportion to the function of organism and metabolism, and it will reveal to some extent the state of cell function, thus it is of important role in the deffence mechanism of organism.
