Of late postoperative alopecia has been described in a few literature, however the cause of the disease is not clear. At the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Okura National Hospital 8 cases were studied by the author and it was found that the cause is not so simple to determine. But these experiments enabled the author to suggest the possible process as well as the cause of the disease which are as follows: a) Due to the pressure of A. and V. occipitalis, N. occipitalis major and Lymphcanalis occipitalis a prepared condition of edema will be increased by use of chlorpromazin and general anesthesia. b) Then anemia, hypotony, anoxia, etc. caused by the surgical operation will occur lymphstasis. c) Consequently this will lead a local and a significant edema on the upper part of the pressured region. d) Depend upon the grade of the local injury this may grow permanent depilation.

Very few cases have been reported in the literature on pathology of the central nervous system in arthrogryposis multiplex congenita.
Case 1. A forty day old boy. Bilateral talipes equinovarus. Contracture of both wrist, finger and knee joints. Died of pneumonia. Autopsy revealed hypoplasia of skeletal muscles of four extremities, slight atrophy and diminution of the anterior horn cells at the cervical and lumbar segments and demyelination of the tractus cerebrospinalis.
Case 2. A four month old girl. Bilateral talipes equinovarus. Contracture of both wrist, finger, toe, elbow joints and of the right shoulder joint, associate with the hare lip and cleft palate. Conservative treatment resulted much improvement. Electromyography failed to show synchronization voltage. Judging from the Case 1 and the past literature the occurrence of arthrogryposis multiplex congenita depends upon the pathological change of the spinal cord. However, the 2 reveals us that the real cause of this disease is still hard to determine.

The epidemiological examination on Yato-byo was performed at east-Mikawa district in Aichi Prefecture where in 1952 one case of this disease was found in south-Nagoya without any succession.
    Results
    1) The ticks living upon 9 wild rabbits, caught at various areas of east-Mikawa-district, were examined. They were mostly Haemaphysalis flava Neumann and Ixodes persuleatus persulcatus and none of Ixodes japonensis was found. The numbers of Haemaphysalis fl. N. were 118, Ixodes p. p. 110. The mites were found mainly from the rabbits seizured at Gamagori area.
    2) Fifteen hunters were collected and six out of fifteen came from Gamagori area and 9 from Kosei area. Three out of formerly described six showed positive intradermal reactions. And only one out of this three had positive aggultination test.
This results suggest us that in Gamagori area there will be a large number of persons who have suffered from Yato-byo not positively but latently.
    3) As described above, Aichi Prefecture had previously Yato-byo only once. This person had re-examination nine years after his first onset. The intradermal reaction showed strong positive again and the aggulitination titre was 1:40.

In order to investigate “pre-silicotic stage” 29 persons engaging in dust labour and 10 healthy persons were examined. And the results are as the following.
    1) The roentgenological findings of the pre-silicotic stage are abnormalities in the pulmonary field and blunting of the hilar regions. And these are more frequently observed among the dust labourers than the healthy persons.
    2) The grade of subjuntive and clinical symptoms is proportional to the grade of the past silicotic disease of the patient.
    3) The pulmonary function test revealed that ventilatory disturbance and emphysema among the advanced stage.

Investigations were made on 666 cases with Infectious Hepatitis (I. H.) and 670 cases with Serum Hepatitis (S. H.) and the following results were obtained.
    1) At the onset of I. H. the acute common cold was often seen and jaundice was frequently seen at S. H. Initially high fever was noted in I. H. but few in S. H..
    2) The occurence rate of the liver enlargement lasting up to th week was lower in I. H. (84.0%) and higher in S. H. (84.9%).
    3) The both diseases had a similar results of the laboratory tests performed during the total process of the patients.
    4) Mortality was higher in I. H. (5.2%) and lower in S. H. (2.1%).
    5) Prognosis-Among both types of the diseases it was better on the younger patients. Relatively S. H. needed longer periods of therapy than that of I. H.. The cases of S. H. which occured after the digestive canal surgical operation often showed the prolonged prognosis.
