Sulfhemoglobinemia caused in rabbits with the administration of both sulfur and phenacetin was studied pathologically and also their ventilatory functions were observed with the following results.
    1) Pathological findings:
    (1) There were scattered many multiple and superficial acute ulcers in the stomach, accompanying with the chornic or subacute gastritis.
    (2) In the brain, there were noted the edema with the slight infiltration of inflammatory cells in the subarachnoid.
    2) The ventilatory function tests which were performed with the instruments devised for the rabbits in our laboratory revealed as follows:
    (1) At rest, the values of VF, V02 and Vco2 all decreased comparing with those of the normal rabbits.
On the contrary, all of the values indicating the ventilatory capacity such as VE, f, VE, VO2 and VCO2 increased at exercise except R. Q. which showed remarkable low value.
    (2) In the studies of blood gas exchange, Sao and PaO2 revealed very decreased values.

This studies were made on 339 patients of pulmonary tuberculosis in the Kanagawa National Sanatorium at Feb. 1st 1961.
The patients who were over 50 years of age, were 70 cases, and the patients who were under 50 years of age were 269 cases.
    1) The culture positives of Mycob, tbc. in sputa of patients over 50 years were 40 cases (57.1%).
The culture positives of Mycoa. tbz. in sputa of patients under 50 years were 134 cases (49. 8%).
    2) Drug resistance cases were found a little higher in patients under 50 years.
    3) The catalase activity and peroxydase activity of Mycob. tbc., which were found in sputa of the patients over 50 years, were only related with resistance to INH.
    4) The rate of sputum conversion and the time to sputum conversion were examined in the untreated patients whoes types of pulmonary lesions were B (infiltrative-caseous type) and C (fibro-caseous type). There were no difference between the patients over 50 years and the patients under 50 years in the rate of sputum conversion. But the older the patients became, the longer the time to sputum conversion was spent.

A 54-year-old house-wife, was admitted to our hospital because of tumor in her left upper quadrant of abdomen. Her face was ruddy coloured, and enlarged liver and splenomegaly were observed. Blood pressure were 138/90 mmHg. The red cell count was 763×104; hemoglobin was 96%; hematocrit 47%; leukocytes 17, 000; and elevated platelets 126×104 (by Fonio Method).
The bone marrow examination revealed remarkable increases in megakaryocytes (1.8% 7, 800/mm3), and slightly increased in myeloblasts (4.0%) and urerythroblasts (0.4%). But the myeloblasts and urerythroblasts were not malignant.
After the removal of 200 cc of blood daily during four days, p32 4 me were given intravenously.
Sixth weeks after the administration, significant reduction in red cell, platelets, megakaryocytes and splenomegaly were observed. The differential count of the megakaryocytes
that is classified by Morita, also became normal rate.

The samples of this paper are selected and not representating all the patients.
Moreover, these activities of leisure are made by memory, ability, and good will by our patients. I am sorry that there is no other group of patients to compare. As leisure is vague and can not catch, it is difficult to investigate strictly by scientific measure.
If we presumed to both wheels of a car as to work and to play, we were inclined to work extremely until tody. By the rationalization of industry and automation in future, a human being will be able to amuse a lot of leisures, and then it must be important to study for us how to play. The ages from 25 to 44 and unmarried patients are majority in this paper. They are unemploying in order to be hospitalized for long times. A great number of patients are schizophrenics. More than half of these patients answered that they had amusement and recreation before admitting mental hospital. Almost all of their religion is Buddhism. As only 7% of patients is attending regularly to temple, we may talk over trifling of religious idea for psychiatric patients. A considerable member of patients like viewing the television, but dislike reading the book. A lot of patients are loving their dogs and cats at their homes.
While 90% of all the patients answered they had no drinking habit, and no social drinking, but the index of smoking habit were higher. We discovered some defects of fostering in jevenile days for 700 of patients. How to pass one's leisure depends upon one's own intelligence, economic status and enviroment. It is irrational to put in force to amuse one's own work for the all people although it is desirable. Great number of people are influenced by the surrounding. Especially females can be influenced by marriage, pregnancy, and child care.
We must emphasize the device and investigation of leisure so that our mind may flow to easy direction.
