The authors have studied the effect of plasticized synthetic resin latex coating on the tensile strength (TS) of papers. The latices (see Report III) were plasticized with the emulsion of plasticizer and T
f (the filmforming of latex, see Report III) of the latices were changed.
Commercial kraft papers were coated with the plasticized latices of various conc. and dried at 40°C and some of the coated papers were cured at 120°C for 5 min.
The authors have found interest relations between the degree of plasticization or T
f and TS of the coated papers. Too low or too high plasticizer content decrease the TS and the authors have explained this phe- nomenon from the plasticity and the strength of resin mass.
