ジャーナル フリーThe relation between the bronchographic shadow and function of the lung was investigated, making reference to the findings of bronchoscopy and x-ray examinations. It was found that degree of bronchial filling and deformation of tracheo-bronchial tree and the ventilation capacity of the lung are closely related to each other. ジャーナル フリーA histological and bacteriological studies and the observation of pH fluctuation were made with bronchial secration in broncho-pulmonary tuberculosis by instilling the streptomycin to the affected region for 10 month, and following results were obtained.
1) The pH of bronchial secration was between 6.4 and 9.0, which is between slight acidity and alkalinity.
2) The pH of bronchial secration was almost neutral in mild cases (the first and second stage), and it fluctuated from slight acidity to slight alkalinity in severe cases (the second and third stage). An ulcer was noted in the case of slight acidity and cavity or hypersecretion in slight alkalinity.
3) pH was inclined so approach to neutrality when treatment was given, but in ulcerative cases such tendency was not recognized.
4) In the mixed infection bacilli were abundant in alkalin reaction, and showed signs of ebbing with alteration from neutrality to acidity.
5) When the secretion showed alkalin reaction, many polynuclear leukocytes and histiocytes were present. However, they were decreased as it approached to the neutrality.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (2189K) -

ジャーナル フリーA case of the trachea in a 35 year old woman in whom polyethylen-protese tube combined with skin flap was applied is reported, and survey on the literature made.
End to end anastomosis is desirable for the operation of this kind, but if this could not be carried out, the protese is preferable to grafting.
The prognosis of this case is of course to be guarded. However, for the insurance of air-way it had met the expectation, so that this method is considered to give promising result for the treatment of benign tumors, tuberculous cicatrization and traumatic stenosis.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (2298K) -

ジャーナル フリー53 year old farmer's wife complained of temporary disturbance of swallowing, six months ago.
Recently the symptoms recurred.
On examination a foreign body was found and this was removed. At the site of foreign body lodgement there was found a tumor which upon biopsy examination proved to be carcionma.
By tomography which is of value to delineate the extent of infiltrative tumor to adjoining tissues, it was decided that this case was still within the indication of operability, so that total excision of cervical oesophagus including hypopharynx and the orifice of the oesophagus was successfully carried out without damaging the larynx. For the plastic operation of the oesophagus, skin pedicle from the margin of incised wound was utilized for the anterior and posterior wall, and oesophagial mucous membrane for the left and pharynx mucous membrane for the right lateral walls.
Skin graft was applied on all of the operated field and the wound was kept open. New oesophagus was constructed by second plastic operation.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (1595K) -

ジャーナル フリーSchwannoma is rare occurreuce as a beneign tumor arising primary in larynx.
A 23 years old woman who visited the hospital writh complaint of dyspnea and hoarseness, was found to have a large tumor in the larynx which occupied half of the cavity.
The tumor was incised after opening into the hypopharynx, and it was found that the tumor had sprung from aryepiglottic fold.
The tumor was smooth, elastic, hardand quail's egg size, and the histological examination showed that it was neurinoma, that is to say, shwannoma.

ジャーナル フリーA study was carried out on the bronchial tuberculosis of the primary tubeculosis in childhood.
General anesthesia was used in 272 cases of children for bronchoscopy and bronchography.
A equipment for the intravenous general anesthesia with thiopental sodium was devised.
Lymph glands were recognized in 63.9% of primary tuberculosis, changes of the peribronchial and fistula between lymphatic gland and bronchus were found in 22.2% of primary tuberculosis.

The authors have succeeded in curing the patient and marasmus with whalebone bougie comparatively short times of his vistit to the out-patient clinic.
