The author has tried to test the autonomic nervous function and responsiveness to drugs of the group with the so-called abnormal sella and the marked so-called hypothalamic-pituitary-syndromes and that with the normal sella and no such signs, each of which is composed of 10 persons in 516 inmates.
The results of the general examination are as follows, in the group with abnormal sella, there are seen no alterations of blood-picture, small caplcity of lungs, accelerated blood sedimentation rate, iacreased cinillary permeability and increased loop of capillary image, in comparison with the normal group.
Adrenalin, Atropin, Pilocarpin, Acetylcholin, T. E. A. B., and Imidalin were used as autonomic nervous drugs. And the results of test with them showed that there are more strongly possitive or less almost negative reaction on them in the abnormal group than in the normal group. It is recognizable also that there is a sufficiently significant difference of responsiveness to them between the two groups. The tendency appears that some cases of the abnormal group more quickly increase up to the highest point and then take more time to recover to the pretreatment value than the normal group concerning the bloodpressure and the pulse.
On the physical examination, there is a significant difference between the two groups, concerning occurence of the positive responsiveness in the tests of the oculo-cardiac, carotid sinus and Erben's reflex, Pilomotor reflex and postual test respectively.
On the special examination in the normal group, the blood-sugar by the insulin test decreases makedly in 30 minutes and then are not always recovered to the value before treatment or not responsive at 60 minutes after composed with the normal group. There are many complaints on the local and the general reaction after the injection of typhoid vaccine and the peculiar change by the Widal's reaction in the abnormal groups. There is a peculiar different between the two groups on the change of blood-cellpicture after the Adrenalin injection, Thorn's test and Prehormon test.
Summarising these results, it has been suggested sufficiently that way be some clinical meaning of the sella-profil from the standpoint of the hypothalimic-pituitary-system.
