In the session of Electronic Displays & Information Systems, there were four(4) out of fifteen(15) presentations in relation to the Vacuum Fluorescent Displays. Those were presented by two(2) Japanese manufacturers, NEC Corp. and FUTABA Corp.. Two(2) presentations by NEC both relate to "Chip in Glass" technology, and one(1) of two(2) presentations by FUTABA, which relates to Color Shift VFD System was also presented in the session of Audio Systems.
SAE'92, the world's largest congress and exposition of automobile and aircraft sub-systems and parts, was held from February 24 to 28 at the Cobo Center in Detroit, U. S. A. Five presentation from the "electronic display and information systems" session are introduced in this report. These are related to LCD, navigation system and laser radar. LCDs are being developed rapidly, especially in Japan. Trials of navigation systems as an individual information infrastructure have been undertaken, in the U. S. A., Europe and Japan. The basic problems of navigation systems have been solved, and a number of companies have developed their own systems. Here too in Japan has seen rapid progress. Investigation of the application of laser radars, particularly the human factors, has now begun.
This report describes a session of Electronic Display Technology and Information Systems at the 1992 SAE International Congress, especially about presentations concerning Head-Up Display. Four papers were presented which relate to this technology.
