A desktop color laser printer with an intermediate transfer drum has been developed. In this printer, each of the four color toner images on an organic photoconductor belt is transferred in succession to the intermediate transfer drum. After a complete color image has been built up on the drum, it is transferred to a sheet of paper using a transfer roller one time. For good print quality, registration of color images and optimization of electrophotographic processes are very important in a color laser printer. This paper describes color registration, optimization of toner image transfer process, and color reproduction property in the new desktop color laser printer.
