A 1/3-inch 360k-pixel progressive scan CCD image sensor has been developed for multi-functional digital video cameras and digital still cameras. The number of effective pixel is suitable for digital VCR standard and the horizontal driving frequency is 13.5MHz. This device shows good color reproductivity by use of primary color filter. Other feature of this device is that, we have realized high speed image capturing for the part of the picture without higher driving frequency.
High speed capturing system has been developed by adopting a PS-CCD which has a drain gate below H-CCD. Quadruple time resolution of normal capturing can be obtained by the spetial driving method for CCD and frame memory control.
The development of a practical VTR that is compact, inexpensive and offers high picture quality has been pressing requirement Comparing present HDTV VTRs (1-in. digital VTR and UNIHI VTR etc.) with current conventional-definition television (CDTV) VTRs used in broadcasting, there is much room for improvement in terms of cost (VTR & tape), function and performance, mobility and maintenance for practical use. To solve these problems at an early stage, we have developed an HDTV VTR using a 1/2-in. tape cassette by making effective use of a current CDTV digital VTR (D-5 VTR) and applying bit rate reduction technology.
We have developed a 1/2 in. Hi-vision digital VTR for studio use incorporating bit rate reduction technology. First, we discuss requirement for a bit rate reduction method used in VTRS. Second, we show the results of the S/N transition and subjective assessment test of the multiple copies associated with the picture processing. Lastly, we outline the bit rate reduction techniques and a high performance tape developed for the VTR.
We have developed 1/2" Hi-vision digital VTR for studio use, which consists of a D-5 VTR and an HD processor for bit rate reduction. This enables to record HDTV signal and 4 channels of PCM audio, preserving the function, performance and running cost of current SDTV digital VTR. In addition to the high picture quality, the error robustness of VTR is also improved by the restoration of erased DCT coefficients with newly developed overlap blocking DCT.

DVD, which is called next generation digital video disc, is high density optical disc, because its track-pitch and minimum pit-length are half size of CD. So DVD is expected to be a key component in the multimadia world. We developed the optical pick-up with two objective lons, which enables the backward compatibility with CD, and control system for that lons change. And we realised stable signal reproduction of DVD Player, with the high quality tracking-servo control system.
The paper presents a new optical drive system incorporating sensor less disturbance suppression control in the focus actuator. The new system uses a disturbance observer based on modern control theory to provide a wide range of detection. As a result, it has achieved a significant improvement in control robustness from conventional systems.
