New image acquisitlon system for HDTV is proposed to meet the Increasing demand for a small, less-expensive, and yet hlgh-performance HDTV camera. This system, named "quad CCD imaging system", is equipped four 2/3 inch CCD sensors, two for green, one for red , and the rest for blue. To realize it, we have developed a new dlchroic prism nearly as smali as the conventional one for the RGB system. The major purpose of our system is to obtain high-quality pictures with less pixel-number CCDs. The reduction of the number of plxel results in wider dynamic range, higher aperture ratio and more yield. The resolution power is secured by increasing the number of sensor chlps.
A HDTV color camera,NHC-lCO,has been devloped by adopting newly developed I inch 2M pixel FIT-CCD Image sensors. This sensor has two features, namely,tungsten photo-shields and TAS ( Tungsten and Aluminum Shunt ) wiring jn horizontal CCD. The camera employs a unique RDS ( Reflection-Delayed noise Suppression ) circuit. Consequently,the camera can achleve -110dB smear level, high SN ratio, more than 50dB. It can also suppress vertical line pair fixed-pattern noise. This camera contains compact analog image sharpnener, external sync clrcuit, matrix circuit and VDA. So, It Is able to operate in stand alone system without camera control unit.
