Stsrong acoustic fluxes in the CDS acoustic domains were injected into a-As2S3. The velocity and the attenuation constant of the acoustic flux in As2S3 were measured. The optical transmission around absorption edge was found to change after the injection of the acoustic fluxes. The change in the optical transmission can be erased by the annealing below the glass transition temperature. These phenomena are considered to be due to the structural changes which are caused by the injected intense acoustic phonons.

Two experimental roll coaters capable of depositing ZnS and MgF2 layers alternatively up to nine layers on a polyester film of the width of 75 and 800 mm, and the method of thickness control are described. For a typical filter comprising of 9 layers, a close manual control based on an in-situ photometry resulted in an accuracy better than ±5% over 80 meters in length and 50 cm in width. Thickness distribution of deposited layers was in accordance with the calculated values for the geometrical configuration of evaporation sources.
Ware resistance, adhesion, and water resistance of the coated polyester films are described and the ways of improvement are also indicated to obtain the properties responsible for, such as, solar heat reflecting blinds, covers for solar collectors and so on.

The three-grid type LEED-AES system with high sensitivity has been developed. In this system, the perturbing ac voltage has been applied on the sample instead of the retarding grid, and the fourth grid of ordinary four-grid type has been eliminated. It has been shown firstly that the sensitivity is improved, since electron transmission is increased and the noise caused by secondary electron emission from the fourth grid is eliminated from the Auger electron signal. Secondly the voltage on the screen induced by perturbing voltage has been reduced almost completely because the all grids are grouned with small impedance. Finally, because of removing the fourth grid, the LEED pattern has been observed more clearly than the four-grid system.
