80% Ni-20% Fe permalloy films have been deposited at the pressure of 10-310-6 mmHg of specified residual gases. N2 and H2 were found to have no measurable effect on the coersive force of films. Only for oxygen, a remarkable effect was observed. The effect of the air was thought to be such that only the oxygen partial pressure affects to the coercive force of the films.
