Histological study of kidneys, especially their vascular changes, were carried out with measurement of renin-like activity in kidneys of rats with different types of experimental hypertension for the evaluation of the significance of the renal pressor material in the production and maintenance mechanism of hypertension.
    Goldblatt-type hypertension, andrenal regeneration hypertension, coarctation of the aorta, neurogenic hypertension, and experimental nephritis were produced in albino rats and the histological changes and renin-like activity in the kidneys were observed;
    (1) In the Goldblatt-type hypertension, in which moderate hypertension was maintained for 2-4 months, the findings were similar to those of human benign nephrocsclerosis. In those with severe hypertension for six month duration or those with rapid blood pressure elevation, the tissue findings were similar to those of human malignant nephrosclerosis. Renal renin increased in clamped kidneys and decreased in the contralateral untreated kidneys.
    (2) In the adrenal regeneration hypertension, maintained for six months or more, degeneration, thickening, and stenosis were seen in renal arterioles and small arteries, while the amount of renal renin decreased.
    (4) In the coarctation of the aorta for 1-2 month duration, the blood pressure elevation and cardiac hypertrophy were marked, and degeneration, thickening and stenosis of renal arterioles were remarkable. The amount of renal renin showed a slight, insignificant decrease.
    (4) In neurogenic hypertension, the blood pressure elevation was variable, and degeneration, thickening, and partial stenosis were observed in small renal arteries. Renal renin were within normal range.
    (5) In experimental nephritis the changes in the vacsular wall were usually slight, and the amount of renal renin showed a slight decrease.
There is no direct correlation between hypertension and renin-like activity in the kidneys, and hypertension is maintained without the increase in the renin-like activity. There is, however, some correlation between the renin-like activity and the renal histological changes ; the amount of renin was generally decreassed, in kidneys with marked thickening and stenosis of renal arterioles, while the value of renin was nearly normal when neither thickening nor stenosis were found. On the other hand, in the clamped kidneys with the increased renin-like activity, degeneration of arteriolar wall were found without thickening or stenosis. Therefore, renal pressor system plays a different role in the production and maintenance of high blood pressure in each kind of hypertension. However, it probably plays an indirect role in correlation with the neurogenic and the metablic or other factors.

The monoamine oxidase (MAO) activities in hog kidney were measured by means of Clark's oxygen electrode. The aparatus and techniques are summarized in the text. The electrodic technique for measurement of MAO activity is very simple and acculate compared with the Warburg's manometric technique. MAO was found to be weak in affinity to oxygen, and its reaction rate was changed according to decrease of oxygen tension in the reaction mixture. According to the above mentioned reason the MAO activities were measured as the oxygen consumption of initial few minutes of the reaction. Optimum pH of MAO in the hog kidney was 8.5, and pS curve had no peak in the region of the final concentration of 10-2 M tyramine. Differences in the results obtained by both electrodic and manometric techniques were discussed.

One necropsy case of clonorchiasis with primary epithelial carcinoma of the intrahepatic bile duct was reported.
    1) A 74-year-old female (Korean) was admitted with chief complaint of abdominal pain and abdominal distention.
The firm and tender edge of the liver was felt 4 fingerbreadths below the right costal margin. Laboratory examination revealed hypof unction of the liver (especially elevation of alikalinephosphatase) and clonorchiasis ova in feces.
    2) A fist sized tumor was seen in the right lobe of the liver and intrahepatic bile ducts were dilated with clonorchis sinensis.
The histological finding of the tumor proved to be primary epithelial carcinoma of the intrahepatic bile duct.

Clinical and histopathological observations were performed on 42 cases of psoriasis vulgaris treated in 1965-Feb. 1967.
These cases consisted of 25 males and 17 females, of whom 29 cases (69%) were aged 20-50 with highest incidence in the 3rd decade of life and the durations of the disease were within 5 years in 34 cases (81%) .
The patients' occupations had no significant connection with the onset of this disease.
The extremities were found to be the site of predilection.
Serum cholesterol levels examined in 6 cases were within normal limit.
In 6 cases histologically examined, the specimens of all cases showed hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis, thinning of the suprapapillary portions of the Stratum Malpighii, elongation of the rete ridges, edema and capillary dilatation of the papillae and inflammatory infiltrate in the upper dermis, and only 2 cases revealed Munro microabscesses.
The occlusive dressing technique with fluocinolone acetonide cream, Goeckerman therapy and the administration with corticosteroid were considerablly effective among various treatments.

Skeletal deformities of the thorax are known to produce functional disturbances of the cardiovascular system.
The straight back syndrome, one of these skeletal deformities, may also masquerade as heart disease.
A case of straight back syndrome with sinus tachycardia in a 19-year-old female with the chief complaint of palitation of 6 months duration was reported.
Physical examination showed a well nourished woman. A grade II ejection of systolic murmur was present in the pulmonary area and diastolic click in the apical area.
The electrocardiogram revealed sinus tachycardia. Other findings were within normal limits.
Her dorsal spine was straight and anterior chest was funnelled.
