    1) Analysis of synovial fluid were made in 115 specimens from patient with degenerative joint disease, 8 with traumatic arthritis, 2 with hydropsy and 32 with rheumatoid arthritis.
    2) The agar gel electrophoresis showed marked elevation in LDH-5 in the fluid of various types of arthritis.
    3) The LDH isozyme patterns of non-inflammatory articular synovial fluid showed elevation in LDH-2 and LDH-5, but isozyme patterns were resembling those of normal serum except the elevated LDH-5.
    4) The differnet isozyme patterns were obtained from rheumatoid arthrits. In these, LDH-5 (Cathodal band) showed very elevated peak and LDH-4 usually next, followed by LDH-3, LDH-2, LDH-1.
    5) Since the isozyme patterns of these synovial fluid resembled with that of leucocytes, the elevated LDH activity of the joint fluid might have its source in white cells. However the elevation of LDH activity in synovial fluid is not proportional to the number of white cells. Perhaps the synovial membrane structure may reflect in synovial fluid isozymes.

In the present experiment, emulsion of diethyl-paranitro-phenyl-thiophosphate, which is an organic phosphate chemical (parathion) was subcutaneously injected into rabbits twice weekly. The animal were administered with a dose of 4 mg, 8 mg, 16 mg and 24 mg/kg of the emulsion. Histological changes of thyroid in the acute, subacute and chronic stages were studied up to 204 days.
    1) The findings in the acute stage.
Mild vacuolar degeneration of the follicular epithelia and dark staining of intraluminal content were observed in these received 24 mg/kg. There were also decrease in staning grade and segmentation of arginophilic fiber of basement membrane, edematous swelling of stromal fiber and expansion with edema of interstitium.
    2) The findings in the subacute stage.
Slight irregularity in size and atrophy of follicles, vacuolar degeneration of the epithelia were seen in those received a dose of 4-8 mg/kg. The changes of stromal and basic membrane fiber were similar to those in the acute stage.
    3) The irregularity of follicle size, and atrophy and destruction of follicles were more significant, especially in those received 24 mg/kg. Desquamated epithelia and red blood cells were also recognized in the lumen, and the regressive changes were generally more conspicuous.
    4) The findings in the chronic stage.
In the group received a small dose, the findings were similar to those in the subacute stage, and collid was found in the interstitium.
In the group received a large dose, both findings of follicle and interstitium resembled those in the subacute stage, with also slight round cell infiltration in the interstitial tissue and hemorrage inside or outside of the follicles. Destruction and atrophy were more marked, but on the other hand, repair and reconstruction were also observed.
    5) Interstitial edema, and regressive changes, especially atrophy of follicles are important hypoxic change, but the proper toxic influence caused by parathion was presented as vascular lesions, making the entire pathological picture of the thyroid more complicated and severe.

Among 1306 patients admitted to our Department of Medicine during the last 3 years, 211 patients had anemia (15%) . Only 15% of these patients with anemia had primary anemia, while others had secondary anemia.
Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, leukemia, malignant tumor, liver disease and kidney disease were frequently associated with anemia. In a proportion of 1 to 4 patients with anemia above the age of 50, either malignant tumor or leukemia was responsible for anemia.
The rate of occurrence of anemia was the highest in leukemia, 87.5%, followed by chronic nephritis, 41.8%, liver cirrhosis, 40.0%, and malignant tumor, 28.6%. In leukemia intense anemia was frequently seen in acute leukemia. In chronic nephritis, intense anemia was seen in all patients with urea nitrogen above 100 mg/dl. In liver cirrhosis, no particular relationship was noted between liver function and anemia.

Three cases whose roentgenogram showed the swelling of hilar lymph node, but no abnormality in the lung, were reported.
The 1 st case was sarcoidosis, the 2nd, cancer of the lung and the 3rd, lymphadenitis tuberculosa. The 1 st and the 2 nd case were diagnosed by the biopsy of periscalenous and supraclavicular node and the 3 rd by the biopsy with intrapleural endoscope.
The examination with endoscope and the biopsy of lymph node or the mucosae of the lung and the bronchus were necessary to the early diagnosis of the patient with the swelling of hilar lymph node on the roentgenogram.
