Adapting the idea by Grünwald, Hajek and others that rhinitis atrophicans is caused by sinuitis, and also referring to Schonstadt and Bruning's method, the author originated the following operation procedures, with which he obtained satisfactory results in 2 cases of rhinitis atrophicans.
    1 Eradication of sinuitis:
Operations on sinuitis maxillaris and cellulitis ethmoidalis are conducted according to the method by Luc-Caldwell and Jansen-Winkler, and the oral wounds are packed with gauze.
    2. Preparation of bone and callus fragment from tibia:
Operations to prepare bone and callus fragment are conducted simultaneously with the above operations.
    3. Transplantation of bone and callus fragment together with periostium from tibia into the nasal cavity:
    I) The oral cut is prolonged to Denker's resection.
II) The pyriform edge is exposed; the mucus membrane of fundus meatus nazi, m. n. inferior, c. n. inferior and m. n. med. is excorated under the periostium; chiseled cross-wise in several parts on the bone.
III) The cartilage of septum nasi is removed by Killian's method.
IV) The bone fragment is transplanted into two sacks of mucus membrane.

For the blood transfusion, the precise blood grouping is the most important matter. Nevertheless, even now, cases of unfortunate outcome due to blood transfusion with incompatible blood thereby caused severe side reactions are being noted not infrequently. The authors also encountered one of such cases. Therefore, the cases are reported and precautions to be taken in the examination procedure are stated in the present paper.
In the present case, due to inadequate examination procedures, blood containing B-Group antigen was given to a recipient possessing A-Group (AIM) blood, thus severe side reactions were caused. In view of the following results of the serologic examinations, the authors pointed out that the blood transfusion was made with blood of incompatible ABO blood grouping with the recipient's group. The authors made clear by reexamination of the donor's blood group that the results of the blood grouping was wrong.
    1. The normal β-agglutinin titre of the recipient was unusually as high as 2560.
    2. By means of over layer method, we found groupspecific anti-B precipitin in the recipient's blood serum. The precipitin titre was found to be 32, and the amount of precipitin was 1.
3, Neither univalent nor bivalent irregular agglutinin was recognized in the recipient's blood serum.

The authors confirmed the presence of its antigenicity in vivo by immunizing humans of A Group and B Group with the carbohydrate fraction extracted from human ABS saliva according to the method by Witebsky et al.
Three subcutaneous injections of 1 mg/cc saline solution each were given at approximately 3 days' intervals. As the results of the immunization, rise of a and β agglutinin titres were recognized in 9 out of 10 A Group humans and 4 out of 5 B Group humans respectively (2 to 16, 4 in most case) . However, in 1 of each of A and B Groups, entirely no rise of agglutinin was observed. Further, in 1 case of A Group, production of the Group-specific anti-B precipitin was recognized.

In order to investigate the influence of dulcin and its split product, p-aminophenol, on the animal in the embryonal stage, which presents entirely different conditions, the author performed experiments on the toxicity and the influence of dulcin and p-aminophenol on the development of the embryo as the first step. He further conducted histological examinations on various organs to compare the results with those published in the past papers. Next, the author traced the fate of dulcin in the developing hens egg and in the body of chick embryo, thereby he compared the results with that of saccharin in the living body to throw light, though faint, to the reason of different toxicity of both sweetening substances. The author also investigated the behavior of the hepatic enzymes, especially the proteolytic enzymes, and scrutinized the toxicity of dulcin fermentologically.

Following his previous papers, the author conducted experiments to investigate the influence, especially the toxicity of para-amino salicylic acid (PAS hereunder) on the chick embryo, and to trace the behavior of PAS in the body of chick embryo. He further compared his results with those published in the past. The influence of vitamin B1 on the excretion of PAS was also investigated.

The authors scrutinized the clinical progress of the extrapleural pneumolysis 4-6 years after the operation placing the emphasis on the lung-perforation and discussed in the present paper that the importance of the decision of the indication of this operation and the position occupied by his operation in the treatment of tuberculosis.
The present paper deals with 34 cases of apical invagination by pleural suture, 45 cases of extrapleural lucite plombage and 14 cases of opened pneumolysis.
Lung-perforation were observed in 14 cases of apical invagination by pleural suture, 5 cases of extrapleural lucite plombage and 4 cases of opened pneumolysis. Approximately 50% of the above cases have died, but the rest of them recovered.
All of the cases, in which thoracoplasty was possible after the occurrence of lung-perforation took favorable course.
Such a large number of incidence of lung-perforation among them was considered to be due to inadequate selection of indication of this operation.
The lung-perforation were found started from cavities measuring more than 2 cm in diameter and superficial cavities or lesions. Therefore, utmost care should be taken in deciding its indication. Further, the case should promptly be subjected to other surgical treatment as soon as lung-perforation was found as complication.
Its genuin indication as single operation is relatively narrow, yet it has a wide scope of usefulness for cases possessing bilateral lesions, cases with low respiratory function or cases with poor physical strength, or utilization as a preparatory treatment for other surgical treament or as a tatative treatment in a case in the developing stage.
