We, NHK, set up a satellite for areas in which broadcasts from our Transmitting Station do not reach. To ensure a stable transmission, any problems resarding the satellite must be learned of at an early stage, and corrected as soon as possible. Although important satellites have a security system that relays information resarding any problems, the majority others do not. Many accidents in broadcasting occur when the batteries for these smaller satellites run low. A new system developed by NHK Toyama and Tateyama Kagaku Kogyo. co. ltd. makes possible a new security system using a low power wireless modem that can be used on these smaller satellite.
