An FED with a P22 phosphor screen, driven at 7kV and 5.3" in diameter, was reported and demonstrated. In this FED, P22 phosphors have shown much higher brightness than oxide phosphors and maintained a reasonable life of 12, 000hrs, though it showed considerable brightness saturation. A new red PDP phosphor, BaGdB_9O_<16>:Eu^<3+> with better chromaticity than the conventional(Y, Gd)BO_3:Eu^<3+> was reported. A survey of host materials, which can provide the luminescence quantum efficiency higher than 1 by the quantum splitting processes, was performed based on a criteria of 5d energy. Luminescence with 125% efficiency was observed. Essential problems of this process have been also recognized.

This paper reports on the 8th.Color Imaging Conference, which was held in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA from Nov.7 to Nov.10, 2000, by IS&T and SID. Presentations consisted of three Keynote presentations, thirty-six Oral presentations, and twenty-six Interactive presentations. The following ten sessions were organized in the Oral presentations: (1)Color theory, (2)Human color vision, (3)Color science, (4)Color workflow, (5)Color image analysis, (6)Image rendering, (7)Image capture, (8)Image display, (9)Gamut mapping, (10)Printing. From the viewpoint of over all observations, color appearance, spectral imaging, and implementation of human spatial property to imaging system should be noticeable.
