CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS FREE ACCESSA government policy required FPUs (field pick-up units) operating in the 700-MHz band to change to 1.2-GHz and 2.3-GHz bands until fiscal year end of 2018. The transmission scheme for the new frequency band FPUs includes a frequency sharing technology, a long delay countermeasure technology, and a MIMO (Multiple–Input Multiple-Output) technology based on the conventional OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) scheme. CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS FREE ACCESSThe frequency migration for field pickup units from 700MHz to 1.2/2.3GHz in road race productions provides us with difficult tasks to overcome due to radio wave characteristics. NTV has been testing both 700MHz and 1.2/2.3GHz reception areas for Hakone Ekiden production for the past 2 years. The reception has been especially difficult at 1.2GHz due to interferences from public radars and amateur radios. CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS FREE ACCESSProfessional-use wireless microphones used in broadcast production, a stage, a concert, and so on, are called as specified radio microphones. The specified radio microphones had been used in a frequency band of 770 to 806 MHz, however, the band was reallocated to TV-band White Space and 1.2 GHz band due to the rapid development of radio communications systems, such as mobile phones. This led us to study low-latency digital transmission system for the specified radio microphone that enables not only low latency but also high-quality and stable transmission in the new reallocated frequency bands. We adopted an OFDM scheme in consideration for higher information bit rate and robustness against multipath interference. CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS FREE ACCESSA full-featured 8K live-program-production system with video format which has high dynamic range (HDR) with Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), wide color gamut, and 120-Hz high frame rate for next-generation 4K/8K program production has been constructed. To realize this system, we have developed indispensable 8K/120-Hz elemental production systems which have a live program production switcher, a character superimposer, and a frame synchronizer. These elemental systems were connected with Ultrahigh Definition Signal/Data Interface (U-SDI) which could transmit video data at the rate of 144 Gbps consistently from cameras to a display. Using the production system, we could achieve the world’s first successful test to demonstrate a live program production with a full-featured 8K video format. From the experimental result, we proved that the full-featured 8K live program production could be carried out, and confirmed that the system was effective for next-generation 8K broadcast production.View full abstractDownload PDF (689K) -

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS FREE ACCESSIn OFDM, one of the issues is the influence of the impulsive noise in the channel. In the compensation of impulsive noise, it is necessary to estimate the channel. Conventional channel estimation scheme has low performance of time domain and it is issue that estimation accuracy in time varying channel such as Rayleigh fading. Therefore, channel estimation scheme using time sample replacement scheme adapted for scattered pilot symbols is proposed in this paper.
