NICT have produced 3D standard test contents, and developed 2D/3D conversion software. The contents can be used for performance evaluation of 3D equipment, such as 3D monitors and projectors, R&D of 3D image processing technology, and assistance of 3D movie production. 2D/3D conversion software is also useful for development and learning 2D/3D conversion technologies. NICT is delivering the contents are software widely for the researchers and institutes relating 3D image technologies.

NICT produced 3D image standard test contents as part of the research of "3D image supporting technology" by funded research of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. In this paper, we describe hologram generation methods from 3 dimensional contents with the range camera or with the scanning camera contents.

A high-resolution full-color electronic holography system is developed. Tempo-spatial division multiplexing of multi-angle and multi-color lights realizes 12 degree of viewing-zone-angle. Half-zone plate hologram generation and single-sideband reproduction method eliminate all undesirable lights. Color aberration and astigmatism caused by the relay-lens and half-mirrors are eliminated.

It is known that 2-dimensional lens array or lenticularlens and the periodic image with periods close to each other make stereoscopic moire fringes. By applying this principle, Periodic Stereo Image which consists of a sequence of three-dimensional images is developed. The periodic image is made from multi-view images, but it consists of a sequence of reduced images. Hence principle of the display can be explained by Integral photography. For some cases using 2-dimensional lens array or lenticularlens, the creation and the evaluation of Periodic Stereo Images are reported in this study.

To investigate the behavior of vital reaction during viewing of three-dimensional moving images. In present study, we measured accommodation and amplitude of motor fusion and brain function using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). Accommodative focal distance gazing at 3DCG images has changed like the reality. Amplitude of motor fusion increased after gazing at 3DCG images. Cerebral blood volume changes increased in gazing at 3DCG images rather than 2DCG images. The safety guideline of the 3-D images should be examined from the standpoint of the vital reaction mensuration.

Recently, the computer generated hologram (CGH) methods are heavily researched. In those conventional CGHs, however, CG objects are expressed by multiple mono-color points, and it's not so common to provide a color hologram of real scene. Though our group proposed a method of hologram generation by using the 2-D and the depth map of real scene, this time we report that we could get the properly reconstruction of image by using our proposal method against the color hologram anew. We confirmed that our proposed color hologram properly recorded both color and the 3-D information of the space by an assessment experiment which optically reconstructs the hologram.

A magneto-optical spatial light modulator array driven by spin-transfer switching is proposed for applications of holographic devices. The spin-transfer switching technique is suitable for controlling of their modules even at a scale of subwavelength. The subwavelength periodicity allows for the high resolution spatial light modulation, which is expected for the use as high-performance holographic devices. In this paper basic structure of magneto-optical module, and its operation methods are discussed. And the diffraction characteristics are also discussed for the use as a holographic device.
