A small re-writable optical disk has been proposed. The media, which is called "iD PHOTO" disk, has a diameter of 50mm and 730MB capacity. It's possible to store data for an extended time, and rewrite data over 1 million times. Therefore, it is ideal for mobile data storage usage for devices like digital still cameras. We developed a new storage device with the iD PHOTO disk. With regard to being a data storage device, a faster data-transfer rate is desired. We developed the ZCAV reproducing technique to realize a high data-transfer rate without changing the recording rate, and we achieved a channel bit rate of 31.1Mbps in the outer area of the disk.
