The EMI countermeasure components such as capacitors and ferrite beads are used for the power supply line of the IC to reduce unnecessary radiation. When a countermeasure component is arranged on the actual circuit board, a surrounding environment and so on has an influence, and it's difficult to evaluate the countermeasure effect in a good reappeared manner. So, we examined the evaluation method for components applying the standard of the radiation measurement for IC.

This paper describes sensing models for electromagnetic sensor which is used for measuring adjacent electric and magnetic filed distributions. The sensing model is estimated from adjacent electric and magnetic filed distributions of microstrip line. The adjacent electromagnetic filed distributions are measured by the measurement system using vector network analyzer. The system can measure adjacent electromagnetic filed distributions of passive circuit. The model of the electric output from the sensor is due to electric coupling between the loop of the sensor and device under test. The model of the magnetic output from the sensor is due to magnetic flax across the loop of the sensor.

This report describes investigation of FDTD analysis for resonance frequency of electromagnetic wave radiated from equipment housing with a wide aperture, such a scanner unit of copier. In varying area of aperture, a resonance frequency is extracted from an emission electric field near an aperture. Magnetic field distribution in a box with an extracted resonance frequency is analyzed.

It is well-known that the frequencies of peak radiated emission from a printed circuit board (PCB)is related to the frequency characteristics of the input impedance between the power and ground planes (PCB impedance). Its correspondence mechansim, however, are still unclear. In this paper, in order to elucidate the relationship between them, we measured and analyzed numerically the frequency characteristics of the radiated electric fields and the PCB impedance. As a result. We found that the peaks of the radiated electric fields occur at the frequencies where the PCB impedance reaches the minimums when the internal resistance of the exciting voltage source is small enough compared to the PCB impedance. On the other hand, the peaks of the radiated electric fields shift towards the frequencies where the PCB impedance reaches the maximums with increasing the internal resistance. This finding suggests that the peaks of radiated emission from a PCB with an actual IC should appear at the frequencies where the PCB impedance has a minimum.

Terminal effects of a finite-length transmission line having vertical risers at both line ends are studied to introduce those effects into a chain matrix or a two-port network expressions. The phenomenon of the electro-magnetic fields due to the risers disturbing fields caused by the currents at line section or transverse electromanetic fields seems to be equivalent to a coupling phenomenon of external fields to a transmission line, which is expressed by the modified telegrapher's equations. From a set of solutions to the equations for line voltages and currents, a new two-port network expression is obtained as a compensated theory for the finite-length transmission line having risers. In order to verify the theory, some experiments are conducted. From comparisions between the compensated, the ordinary and the measured results, it is found that the compensated results are in a better agreement with the measured than the ordinary.

The CISPR recently published an amendment to CISPR22 for requesting ferrite clamps attached on EUT cables and specified the insertion loss of the clamp. But there are no specifications for the insertion loss measurement. Hence, theoretical and experimental investigations have been carried out to develop an appropriate measurement method with requisite measuring instruments. A 150 Ω instrument consisting of a cylinder and a ground plane is proposed and the measurement uncertainty is evaluated with respect to the errors attributable to the characteristic impedance of the instrument and the position of ferrite cores under measurement. In addition, more accurate measurements are carried out using the TRL calibration procedures.

At a preparation of the transmission equipment for digital terrestrial television, there is a requirement to try moving an equipment investment back by means of a broadband antenna simultaneously to be able to transmit the channel that frequency departed. So far, though twin loop antenna had been much used as a transmission antenna for UHF, it was a narrow band and many kinds(9 kinds). We have developed a broadband 4L-type twin loop antenna(24U) which was able to cover UHF with 2 kinds.

Two types of wide-band electromagnetic wave absorber panel has been developed to meet the public demand to circumvent the television ghost problem. These absorber panels have the structures of PC curtain wall and Glass curtain wall and the wide-band characteristics covering VHF and UHF band. In order to widen the frequency range, the ferrite fin structure is adopted. In this report it is discussed the influence which the difference between an actual electromagnetic wave absorber panel and a calculation model or mock-up has on its performance. It became clear that the several factors reduce the frequency range which the reflection is suppressed below -14dB from an experimental result.

When the distance from a transmitting rod antenna to a receiving rod antenna is short, transmission between antennas is done by electric field. So the value of electromagnetic shielding effectiveness measured by the Insertion Loss Method is generally better than the true value. This transmitting characteristic is under the relation between normalized wave impedance of transmitting rod antenna and β・r. So depend on the distance from transmitting antenna, transmitting characteristics are different. For example, transmission is done by electric field when β・r<0.1, is done electromagnetic wave when β・r=0.2, and is done by resonance when β・r=1.

In muti-channel CATV transmission systems, non-linearity of amplifiers causes intermodulation. We have measured BER of 64QAM and 256QAM under intermodulation distortions conditions. In this paper the experimental results are described.
