Optical devices such as lenses, prisms and diffractive optics become essential devices for consumer, bio-medical or industrial equipment. Though progress of design or material engineering of optics is very rapid in recent years, the concept of optical devices such as solid optics is the same one as Galileo's telescopes. In this paper, we will describe challenges for liquid crystal active optics technology and its distribution to the markets. Future applications are also studied.
