Magnetism of 3d transition metal is closely related to the crystal structure via the band structure. From the viewpoint that the quasi-equilibrium crystal phase could possess the unique magnetism different from that of thermo-mechanically equilibrium phase, we have been investigating the creation of quasi-equilibrium crystal phase using epitaxial growth and its magnetism. In this report, we present the structure, magnetism and these correlation of ultrathin Co film grown on SrTiO_3(001) substrate which is expected to form the bcc type Co. It is found that the newly formed steps are observed on Co surface in the direction of 26° from SrTiO_3[001]. Furthermore, Co shows the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy parallel the newly observed step direction. In addition to the above correlation, from the discussions on the epitaxial growth of Co on SrTiO_3(001), it is considered that our Co film forms hcp(112^^-0) on SrTiO_3(001) surface.

For high density recording media, Fe_<16>N_2 fine particles were developed using co-precipitation and nitridation treatment in NH_3 gas atmosphere. Each particle has a spherical shape with a diameter of about 18nm and core-shell structure. The core and shell mainly consist of the Fe_<16>N_2 and non-magnetic oxides. The coercive force is higher than that of the needle-shaped metal particles currently used an disstable from room temperature to 323K. The higher coercive force originates from an uniaxial magneto crystalline an isotropy of the Fe_<16>N_2. We have per formed polarized neutron scattering experiments of the Fe_<16>N_2 fine particles. The magnetic moment of the Fe_<16>N_2 and the thickness of the non-magnetic surface layer were estimated to be about 2μ_B/ Featom and 3nm, respectively.

In order to greatly increase the speed at which videotapes are read, we propose an optical reading method using a magnetic garnet film. This method allows several data tracks to be read in parallel. We have constructed trial films with a Faraday rotation angle of approximately 5 degrees per micrometer film thickness. An experiment to reproduce videotape data was carried out at a tape speed of 0.367m/s, and a CNR of over 30dB was achieved for a bit-length of 0.385μm.

In this study, we investigate the magnetization switching process of the Ni-20at%Fe nanowire with constriction through the motion of the domain wall. The motions of the domain wall in the nanowire have been clarified by Magnetic field sweeping magnetic force microscopy (MFS-MFM). MFS-MFM is directly measure the motion of the domain structure of the sample, without a disturbance of the magnetic structure of the sample by MFM tip stray field. The magnetization switching processes ware found to be strongly dependent on the thickness and the geometry of the nanowire.

Recently, tone characteristic has worsened by making the TV high luminance. Especially, pseudo contour is highly visible in the gradation area, the sky and the skin etc. In this paper we propose the image processing technology that enhance tone characteristic using edge hold LPF.

We have developed a Lens-shiftable projector of DLP^<TM> using a non-telecentric optical system that requires no prism. In the optical engine, the ilumination system is always an chored in the position and the pupil position of the projection lens changes in conjuction with the projection lens in appearance. The F-number of the projection lens is reduced less than the F-number of the illumination system and optimized in consideration of the performance and cost. In addition, the optical engine has a fixed aperture in front of the projection lens, which has the opening size equal to the F-number of the illumination system. We integrate these technologies to provide the Lens shiftable projector that offers high-bright and high-contrast images with a compact structure.

We have developed the 2D laser scanning actuator for LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) backlight. The LCD system adopts laser for backlight and scanning optical spot on the LCD panel in two dimensions by the actuator. The 2D scanning actuator is composed of the polygon mirror (for the horizontal direction scanning of the LCD panel) and the galvano mirror (for the vertical direction scanning) which is driven by motors and the rotation angle is controlled by closed-loop control in high accuracy.

We experimentally demonstrated the amplification of optical disc readout signals by homodyne detection. This technique uses optical interference to amplify the signals. We further applied phase-diversity detection to reliably obtain the amplified readout signal. The optical system was carefully designed so that sufficient stability is assured and a sufficiently amplified readout signal can be obtained. We experimentally demonstrated a 3.6 times amplification of a Blu-ray Disc readout signal. The present technique will be essential for the real commercialization of next-generation multilayer optical disc because of its outstanding ability of signal-to-noise ratio improvement.

Recently, various technologies of higher density version that exceed optical resolution are proposed for MO disk, and have been put to practical use. In those technologies, the domain wall displacement detection (DWDD) is one of excellent readout methods, which utilizes the characteristic of magnetic film called wall-displacement phenomenon by temperature gradient. This method has no limit of resolution in principle. In the present paper, we try to apply the three-dimensional FDTD method to the analysis of the light-beam scattering and the characteristic of detected signal for expansion of magnetic domain on DWDD disk mode.

Recently, a density growth is demanded in optical storage technologies. But, It is said that the upper limit of recording density by the current optical recording system is several tens of gigabits per inch square due to the optical diffraction limit even in the case of using a short wavelength. Then, as a technology that enables us to break down the optical diffraction limit, the optical near field technology has gotten a lot of attention. In this paper, we try to perform three-dimensional numerical analysis of an optical near field distributions in a metallic bow-tie type nano-aperture by using the FDTD method. In the present analysis, the FDTD method combined with the motion equation of electron is applied to a metallic medium whose permittivity can become negative at the optical wavelength range.

But a lot of people do not understand the operation method of complicated functions and feel dissatisfaction on convenience. We have been supplied easy remote controller which limited functions so far. According to this concept, we develop a remote controller equipped with Liquid Crystal Display and Touch Panel. In this paper, were port the concept of development, system configuration and examination of power saving.

Three kinds of virtual machines were constructed, and the development environment of the built-in equipment was constructed on one personal computer. In this virtual machines, the target environment of the built-in equipment was constructed on one personal computer. There is an advantage that the development such as GUI can be done by reproducing the target environment on the personal computer even in the state without the target preceding.
