CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS FREE ACCESSEffective use of electric energy realizes 'saving energy', and eventually it brings the reduction of negative effects to environment. On the usage of electric energy, a lot of semiconductor power devices are employed. Present-day Si power devices do not expand their performance owing to the limitation of material properties. Here, semiconductor SiC is remarkably expected to realize breakthrough. Fundamental research on semiconductor SiC in Kyoto University becomes a core of such breakthrough, and now industrial sectors are widely involved in SiC power devices and systems. The process in realization of new industries is supported by all-Japan system through national projects.
