In mobile reception of uplink OFDM signal, the performance is deteriorated because of ICI (Inter-Carrier Interference) caused by Doppler-spread of the channel as in the case of downlink. Especially, OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Access) uplink system, the influence of ICI is different in each user block. Therefore, the ICI cancellation technique in the base station for the uplink OFDMA signal is necessary. In this paper, ICI canceller for uplink OFDMA signal is proposed. The channel matrix considering the influence of ICI in each user is calculated. However, the inverse of the channel matrix cannot be calculated because the diagonal elements of the channel matrix are zero because of Null subcarriers. In proposed scheme, "1" is substituted to the diagonal element of zero corresponding to Null subcarriers of the channel matrix and the pseudo channel matrix is generated. The inverse of pseudo channel matrix is multiplied to the received signal. It is confirmed to that reduction of the influence of ICI using the proposed channel matrix.

After analog television broadcasting was terminated in Japan, the frequency bands from 90 to 108 MHz (VHF-Low band) was reallocated to mobile multimedia broadcasting (VHF-Low MMB). We propose three methods (the extended time-interleaving length, iterative decoding technology, and space diversity reception technology) to improve the mobile reception performance. And the improvements of the mobile reception performance were evaluated through laboratory and field experiments. As a result of laboratory experiments, the extension of time-interleaving length from I=4 (0.5 s) to I=32 (4 s), iterative decoding, and 2-branch space diversity reception improved the mobile reception performance by 8.9 dB at a vehicle speed of around 30 km/h. We conducted field experiments, and the results from these matched those from the laboratory experiments.

The 'flip-board' is popular item in TV program. Almost all 'flip-board' is made by paper. But these are dust after using TV show. It's waste. So, we tried to replace its to digital one. We realize touch-panel system with very low cost. Because we use popular tools (ex.Adobe Flasd) for OA Systems. And cut off a safety margin of running cost. It's very tight situation but if the user can use very carefully, they get a good system with low costs.

In recent years, the concern over electricity shortages has underscored the importance of environmentally conscious lighting design. While LED technology presents a solution, research efforts have yet to produce a LED solution compatible with existing dimmer systems, preventing the industry wide adoption of LED technology. At Nippon Television, we have designed and developed "LED Floodlight", a LED electric drive system that produce smooth variable lighting while seamlessly connecting with existing dimmers. In addition to minimizing costs through the use of generic LED panels, our technology greatly contributes to an environmentally sustainable future.

The storage batteries are prepared in small-powered repeater of terrestrial DTV as a reserve power supply at the time of a power failure. In Hokkaido, there is a small-powered repeater of terrestrial DTV where temperature falls to minus 30 degrees outside in winter. There is a possibility that the discharge possible hour will be short by low temperature and be discharge impossibility by very-low temperature for storage batteries. Then, some experiments and analyses were carried out about the technique of easing the temperature fall of the storage batteries using regenerating agents. Moreover, the ventilation improvement of the batteries accommodation box corresponding to the temperature change in summer and winter is also reported.

To enjoy the event scene, the effect of the fun by direction of manipulating and switching cameras work is essential, in addition to increasing the presence by high-quality video and audio. Movie direction in TV broadcasting is made for the public, however, it is desirable to match the tastes of the individual viewer if possible. In this paper, we propose a video distribution system to achieve the performance that is personalized for individual audience. On the assumption that viewers can enjoy the video contents in conjunction with the TV broadcasting, the total system was examined from shooting to viewing. In addition to the traditional multi-angle viewing, we propose a method such as a scenario based panoramic video viewing.

We study on the transmission antennas to achieve more stable transmission of 700MHz band FPU used in the road race live broadcast. Considering the locations of the course and receiver base stations, we have already evaluated an array antenna for the transmitter to create a narrow beam configuration in the course at Kyoto. In this report, we evaluated a parameter of the array antenna in Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon to improve the cover area of the receiving stations. We confirmed the stability of video transmissions by analyzing and evaluating the propagation data by choosing a proper parameter of the transmission antenna.

NHK Science and Technology Research Laboratory is researching and developing satellite broadcasting system using 21-GHz band to broadcast Super High-Vision programs. It is required for the antennas onboard a broadcasting satellite that the gain of the antenna is ensured constant inside the service area as well as the side robes are suppressed outside, and that the radiation pattern is tolerant of temperature changes occurred in the space environment. We prototyped an engineering model of the onboard shaped reflector antenna for 21-GHz band satellite broadcasting. In this report, we evaluated the electrical performances of the engineering model antenna in thermal vacuum condition.

We have developed a wireless high-definition TV (HDTV) camera, called the "Millimeter-wave Mobile Camera," which can transmit HDTV pictures with high-capacity and low delay. The camera was improved in transmission capacity and link reliability by the application of 42-GHz band wave and transmitter/receiver diversity, so the camera is extensively used at many TV program productions in outdoor environment such as "Golf tournament" and in indoor environment such as "Charity concert". We recorded the receiving IF (Intermediate Frequency) signals in indoor and outdoor real environment of TV program productions and analyzed the channel characteristics from the receiving IF signals. In addition, we evaluated the differences of channel characteristics between indoor and outdoor environment.

The 13th channel of the DTTB(Digital terrestrial television broadcasting) signal is the lowest frequency in the DTTB and adjacent to wireless communicator signal for taxi on frequency band. Therefore, the 13th channel has a possibility to degrade if wireless communicator for taxi is used near the receiving antenna for DTTB. In this paper, we describe the results of indoor and field experiments. We also mention degradations of the DTTB signal by wireless communicator for taxi.

OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is used for DTTB (Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting). It is not affected by multipath easily, so SFN (Single Frequency Network) is possible. However, it is affected in worse reception environment. Therefore, estimating the cause of degradation is useful for improvement of reception condition. In this paper, we propose a new estimation method in regard to horizontally and perpendicular direction. We describe measurement results of field experiments with proposed method.

Interferences to ISDB-T terrestrial digital TV receptions at home and relay stations by a distant terrestrial digital TV airwave are caused by anomalous radio propagations such as radio ducting. It is often extremely difficult to search the interfering station because the interfering airwave is commonly unstable and easily masked by a desired digital TV airwave. To conduct efficient search of the interfering station, an ISDB-T receiver with a network ID estimation function and an ISDB-T interfering airwave extractor have been developed. In this paper, these equipments are introduced and some results of the performance confirmation tests are also reported.
