A television audience response system, "Live POPS", which utilizes data broadcasting, has been developed by TBS lately. It is the program maker-oriented service, in which the audience responses of limited participants are gathered through the return-channel by the newly-developed application of data broadcasting. Those responses are transmitted by pushing buttons of TV remote controller, and the system processes the transmitted data immediately and displays result in a graph. It is also possible to analyze the results after broadcast of a program and to output an intelligible report including some screenshots.

In this paper, we report the transmission control method and evaluation result for ISDB-Tmm Storage-based Broadcasting. Storage-based broadcasting on ISDB-Tmm standards is a new broadcasting service to deliver multimedia contents files over broadcasting. When broadcasters provide Storage-based Broadcasting, they need to make efficient use of broadcast wave. We considered the transmission control method and parameters for Storage-based Broadcasting and tested the efficiency by experiment.

There are several possible 3DTV broadcasting systems with different schemes for coding and transmission of the left and right images. Each system has different compatibility with the 2DTV broadcasting system and different reception/display capability by 2DTV receivers. ARIB has set the basic requirements that would govern the selection of a 3DTV broadcasting system, and has indicated the most suitable system that satisfies each set of the requirements.

ARIB has studied 3DTV broadcasting systems to indicate the most suitable system that satisfies each set of the requirements. On 3DTV broadcasting systems that could be introduced within the transmission capacity of the existing 2DTV broadcasting, ARIB has revealed the feasibility and conditions to introduce 3DTV broadcasting by the subjective evaluation of picture quality of compressed 3DTV pictures.

The authors lead to a successful result through developing a touch panel display that enables to integrate the conventional mechanical fader, hard switch, and the several control consoles for output status, baton lightning, load circuit, etc. The implementation of multi channel controlling in a limited operation space has already been confirmed by applying this novel touch panel, as a main lightning control console, to the well-known representative TBS program of "The Japan Record Award".

'Caster-Light' is used as an auxiliary light for anchorwomen to make their faces expressive and to make their eyes brighter. Caster-Light that we usually use is fluorescent light. Fluorescent light has green color component a little too much. We developed LED Caster-Light with better color rendering properties than fluorescent light. By using this light, we can adjust color balance as we like for each anchorwoman who has different complexion. We designed this light to put on a table as a part of TV studio set. The design concept is femininity.

When building a conventional virtual system at a relay spot, various task exists compared to the operation at the head office, such as equipment procurement cost, spot preparation time, work environment, etc. Thereupon, to solve these tasks, TV Asahi developed and put to practical use on live broadcast "The VANC system (Vertical ANCillary inserter)" which interlocks real time to the head office virtual system with the image data transmitted from the relay spot that has superimposed camera position data etc. to the Ancillary space of HD-SDI. As a result, most of the tasks were solved and large production cost cut, allowing moment correction and adjustment before relay virtual effect broadcast was achieved.

During live outside broadcasting (OB) of road races, such as marathons and ekiden, video images are taken using cameras on moving OB vans and the signals of the video images are transmitted by FPU in 700 MHz band. The frequency band for the FPU is planned to migrate to 1.2 and 2.3GHz bands by the action plan for radio spectrum reallocation developed by the ministry of internal affairs and communications. After the frequency migration of FPU, it is assumed that wireless cameras will be used in 1.2 and 2.3GHz bands. In this report, we examined the radiation characteristics of the transmission antenna of a wireless camera and the specific absorption rate (SAR) in the human head exposed to electromagnetic waves from the transmission antenna. From our examinations, the antenna gain can be improved by taking the antenna height of more than 150 mm. Moreover, the SAR can be reduced by taking the antenna height.
