The Department of Management of Industry and Technology in Osaka University provides a new leadership program and practical exercise with On the Job Education (OJE). The OJE is an autonomous education system from planning to problem solving through aggressive self-developments. The system is not limited to lectures and case studies, but includes practical exercises for accumulating knowledge and experience in order to develop strong judgment and decisiveness. This paper describes the research and development results on Super Hi-Vision system, which is expected to be the future television system with extremely enhanced sense of reality, including the progress of the demonstration test for broadcasting and the standardization of system parameters. Then, focusing on image pickup systems, the three 33M-pixel CMOS camera system currently being developed is introduced. Finally the direction of development and the technical issues to be solved are discussed for practical camera system.
