    This paper is concerned with an application of ray tracing method (RTM) to electromagnetic wave propagation in Tenjin area, central part of Fukuoka city. Transmitter nad receiver are assumed to be in the same height as that of average human being. In this case we can neglect the effect of roof of buildings on propagation, since the wave, from a transmitter travels repeating reflections from the walls of buildings and a reflection from a road. Thus the propagation at the bottom of high-rise buildings is very similar to that in a tunnel. Numerical results are shown for ray examples and field distributions.

    In recent years, mobile communication has developed quite remarkably. But, like in urban areas, cellular phones are often used behind buildings. The estimation of the electromagnetic wave propagation in urban areas bristled with buildings is important. In this paper, we analyze electric field strength behind a building via the building rooftop and the both sides. The analysis is carried out by GTD. We show influence of edges of building to electric wave propagation by numerical computation.

    Presented herein are numerical analyses by FVTD method and experimental measurements of the effect of a concrete wall on electromagnetic wave propagation from a line source. That which are analysed numerically are electromagnetic waves which propagate inside and near a concrete wall which is considered as a two-dimensional structure. Experimental measurements are applied to measure field distributions inside scale models of the presented structures using microwaves. In addition, the results of measurements are compared with the results of numerical analyses.

    This paper is concerned with an application of ray tracing method (RTM) to electromagnetic wave reflection from and transmission through dielectric slab and wedge. Numerical calculations for field distributions are carried out and compared with other numerical and experimental results. Present results will provide basic data for field estimation in a house.

    An open site is a place measuring electromagnetic waves emitted by electronic apparatuses, and it is estimated as a field over an infinite conductor plane on the earth. However, for a measuring field in practice, a finite conductor plane is laid on the earth. In this paper, we considered the influence of a finite ground plane and the peripheral earth. The numerical calculation was performed for a finite plane on the earth and in free space (a strip), and for an infinite plane. As a result, the fields diffracted by edges of a finite plane on the earth are small compared with the strip.

    In this paper, the FDTD/FVTD Hybrid method is applied to the 2-dimensional electromagnetic scattering by a perfectly electric conducting cylinder.The FVTD(Finite Volume Time Domain), based on a coiiformal and unstructured grid is used in the linear fields of the scatter surface, and the FDTD(Finite Difference Time Domain) is used to the murrouncding area. The difference was ob-morved by the analysis result of the FDTD method and the FDTD/FVTD Hybrid method in the electric amplitude of a frequency domain.

    The scattering characteristics of tripole array printed on a thin dielectric film are numerically investigated by using the electromagnetic simulator IE3D based on the Method of Moment. The array is composed of tripole elements with arms of equal length. The center of element is put on the vertices of equilateral triangle lattice and the each arm is located on the sides of triangle. The scattered electric fields are numerically examined for the plane wave incidence from the vertical direction to the array. The frequency-selective characteristics of this array are examined.

    The reflection characteristics of electromagnetic wave absorber with bincho charcoal are measured. The electromagnetic wave absorber is made from the urethane foam sheet with polyether. The bincho charcoal powder is contained into this sheet. The thickness of absorber is 1cm. The reflection characteristics are measured at the frequencies from 1GHz to 5GHz. The reflection loss more than 3 dB is obtained in the frequency more than 4.5GHz.

    Previously, we developed the modified transmission line antenna (MTLA), which had the improved gain, good impedance characteristics and reduced antenna size. The MTLA is a modification of the transmission line antenna for mobile communication antennas. In this paper, for the purpose of more reduction of the MTLA, we first explain about the behavior of the MTLA with the parallel branch wire loading. We also introduce resonant frequency, input impedance, pattern, gain characteristics.

    The cavity-backed resistance-loaded planner monopole antenna for impulse radar is analyzed by using the electromagnetic simulator "Fidelity" based on FDTD method. The size of rectangular cavity is 48mm by 44mm by 44mm. The amplifier circuit with the linear IC uPC3215TB is loaded at the feed point of antenna. The actual gain characteristics of receiving antenna are calculated. The actual gains are more than 19dBd at the frequencies from 0.5GHz to 3.1GHz. When the width between the antenna aperture and the edge of conducting plane is 10mm, the actual gain becomes almost constant from 0.5GHz to 3.1GHz.

    The mutual influences between the transmitting and receiving antennas of impulse radar are analyzed by using the electromagnetic simulator "Fidelity" based on the FDTD method in the frequencies from 0.5 GHz to 4.5 GHz. The cavity-backed resistance-loaded planner monopole antennas are used for the transmitting and receiving antennas. The size of rectangular cavity is 48mm by 44mm by 44mm. The input impedance characteristics of transmitting antenna, S_<21> parameter and the time domain responses of the feed point currents of transmitting and receiving antennas are calculated.

    Resonance characteristics of microstrip antenna(MSA) using unsaturated YIG polycrystalline substrate was analyzed with the FDTD method. In the analysis of the unsaturated YIG, we modeled the behavior of magnetization vector in each magnetic domain devided into several areas. Numerical results showed similar tendency to experimental results, and thus it was confirmed that resonance characteristics of MSA using unsaturated YIG polycrystalline substrate would be theoretically explained by modeling the behavior of magnetic domain.

    ln this study, a printed antenna with variable impedance is investigated. The load consists of a coplanar line and capacitors. A variable inductance is realized by using a varactor diodes as variable capacitance. Using the variable inductance. a active printed antenna whose directivity is electrically controlled is realized.

    In this study, the array antenna with a feed circuit which is composed of a planar circuit resonator and variable capacitors is proposed, and fundamental investigation is performed mainly about the directive control. A rectangular radiation elements fed through via hole conductors or electromagnetic coupling are simulated by FDTD method. As a result, different phase feed and directivity control are confirmed to be possible due to the feed circuit

    The oscillator with multiple active devices using higher order mode of planar circuits for power combinig in microwave / millimeter wave bands were investigated. For the fundamental study, the configuration of the oscillator with TM_<41> and TM_<61> modes of circular resonator and Gunn Diodes have been studied. The experiments of the oscillators with three and five devices were made at X-band. The combined power of five devices case has attained to be about five times that of one devices. As a result, the power combining method proposed here is successfully confirmed both experimentally and theoretically.

    New technology Research & Planning Headquarters Abstract Nippon Television Network has carried out some reception measurement experiments such as the stationary reception experiment of the digital terrestrial broadcasting in a fringe-area where the RF signal level is low, as the investigation that the influence of the shade of a building which cause the attenuation of RF signal enter into the shade of a building, and inspection of the service for the mobile reception in an urban area. These experiments are for the purpose of that becomes a foundation material toward future broadcast enforcement upon.

    In digital terrestrial television broadcast, the receiving form of indoor reception or mobile reception is expected. Here, in the realistic transmitting parameter (mode 3,16QAM/DQPSK), it experimented in indoor reception and mobile reception in the SFN (between Ikcoma and Hokudan Tarumi relay station) state, and the tolerance on electric wave propagation was evaluated. In the indoor reception experiment which used the commercial di-pole antenna, the tolerance of 16QAM 1/2 was stronger than the tolerance of DQPSK 3/4. The result differed from the difference of necessary C/N. In the mobile reception experiment in SFN, area unreceivable within and without a guard interval has been pinpointed.
