Technical development and standardization of transmitting video signals with low latency in IP packets are performed. For a packet loss counter-plan to ensure the quality, a low latency FEC (Forward Error Correction) method with erasure code using XOR (the conventional method) has been standardized by SMPTE. We have proposed the new FEC method to improve the burst loss tolerance as twice compared to the conventional method. In this paper, we report about the recovered video signal clock performance comparison results. To recover the video signal stably at the receiver over an asynchronous IP transmission path, a video time stamp value generated from a video signal clock is added to the video packet at the transmitter. At the receiver, the video signal clock is recovered by using its video time stamp value. There are differences of the construction scheme between the conventional method and the proposed method, so that makes performance differences of the recovered video signal clock. As experimental results, we will reveal that video signal clock frequency jitters of the proposed method can be reduced to about 64% compared to that of the conventional method.

NHK is conducting research on the next generation terrestrial broadcasting. The proposed specification for the next generation terrestrial broadcasting has been designed based on segmented OFDM to provide the several services and has variety of transmission parameters such as modulation level and coding rate, etc. Especially, SP pattern can be set according to the service such as mobile reception and fixed reception. This paper describes the evaluation for mobile reception performance with several SP patterns by computer simulations.

Test UHDTV satellite broadcasting was started on August 1st, 2016. In 2018, practical UHDTV satellite broadcasting will be provided by using the right- and left-hand circular polarization in the 12-GHz band. For satellite broadcasting reception, a low noise block converter of a receiving antenna converts the 12-GHz band receiving signals to the intermediate frequency (IF) and the IF signals are transmitted with coaxial cables or optical fibers. Therefore, ARIB STD-B63 standardized the left-hand circular polarization IF (2224.41 to 3223.25 MHz), whose frequency is higher than that of the currently used IF (1032.23 to 2070.25 MHz). Because the left-hand circular polarization IF band overlaps with the 2.4-GHz band wireless LAN system, it is important to evaluate the shielding effectiveness of coaxial cables when we transmit the IF signals on a coaxial cable. Hence, we measured the coaxial cables and obtained the shielding effectiveness of 90 to 110 dB in 2 to 3 GHz. From this result, we showed the possibility of the frequency sharing of the IF system and the wireless LAN system.

We developed an iPhone app for Lip-sync adjustment. This tool helps to measure the timing difference between audio and video at the live TV program production site. The audio operator used to determine the insertion amount of audio delay time by monitoring video and audio with his eyes and ears. This iPhone app can measure the timing difference between audio and video by capturing QR code video and audio reference signal. By using this app, anyone can synchronize audio with video very easily. We introduce an abstract of this app system in this thesis.

In the wake of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that occurred on January 17, 1995, the development of technology to send to stabilize the video data obtained from the normal disaster site where the line is interrupted, such as a telephone. Since then, the “automatic lateral control camera platform”, which worked on research and developmentover a period of about 20 years, captured by the automatic location of each other in sending and receiving both sides, keep track. Great East Japan Earthquake and subsequent occurrence of March 11, 2011, the light weight and strength that can be transported in the human power, also corresponding to the satellite wave was asked. Mobile phones and nowthat the Internet equipment is widely used, the usefulness of in effectiveness and actuallyintroduced use of the site of with evolving by any chance, such as those of the communication line is interrupted “Automatic how tone camera platform”, in recent yearsdisaster prevention in the Nankai trough huge earthquake occurrence of is expected also to introduce in mind. At the same time, also touch on the use of in the event venue, such as citizen marathon.
