In this paper I will speak about the matter of artistic image research and image creation expecting for 21 century. Now the computer graphics(CG) becomes high quality and easily used by the personal computer system. It is very convenient for simulation of almost physical phenomena and virtual reality. Also highly realistic displays are very important for the artistic Image presentation. They are wide screen, HDTV, head mount display(HMD)amd 3D display such as stereoscopic display with glasses like CAVE and holography. In 21 century high quality artistic Images will be demonstrated with highly realistic display.

We propose a rendering method of diffraction based on bidirectional ray tracing. Light sources and rays have spectral distribution. Apertures or slits which cause the diffraction are modeled by texture mapping on patches in order to simplify the intersection calculation with incident light rays. In light ray tracing, those incident light rays into them are gathered. In eye ray tracing, we use Fraunhoffer approximation to calculate the amplitude of diffracted light from each aperture. We also show some rendered images in which spectral colors and interference fringes are observed.

This paper proposes an automatical making of three-dimensional scenery image based on a paper map and related aerial pictures. First, for the conversion from a paper map to a vector map, characteristic points are automatically extracted from binary scanned image of paper map. Next, the shape and color of the roof of each building is obtained from aerial pictures and is applied to the object. By giving appropriate height to each object, 3-dimensional map is produced.

This paper proposes how to form trees to apply for a seenary simulation. First, structure of trees is formed by using the order in which branches grow. Then, leaves are generated around the branches. Here, the number of polygon is reduced by using a group of leaves.
