A method was proposed for identifying the source camera which take a digital image by PNU (pixel non-uniformity) noise. In this study, we show that the camera identification accuracy is reduced if there are complex textures in the image. Then, we propose a method to improve the accuracy by eliminating area of complex texture.

We have developed a new image stabilization technology for still images based on blind deconvolution and introduced it into consumer digital still cameras. This technology allows us to reduce processing time and ringing artifacts, the common problems in image deconvolution, without deteriorating deblurring performance.

The fragile digital watermark which proves that the image is authenticity needs tamper resistance. For tamper resistance, it was done by concealing the algorithm of the digital watermark in the past. But there is a limit in the defense by the algorithm concealment. Therefore, we propose the fragile digital watermark algorithm which has tamper resistance even if it makes public algorithm. The algorithm must be applied to JPEG format images. To support JPEG images, digital watermark data is embedded in a parity modulating a quantizatized DCT coefficient by the proposal algorithm.

We developed the new projector with the fourth new liquid crystal panel that controls the yellow light independently in UHP lamp. This projector has the relation between brightness and color reproduction based on the volume of yellow light. In this paper, we present a new color conversion algorithm for the projector. This algorithm controls the volume of yellow light and corrects color shifted pixels depending on image features. As a result, this algorithm achieves both high brightness and vivid color reproduction.

This paper describes a compact display system with a network interface to receive video signals from an external server device such as a PC. This system has been built on a small printed circuit board (PCB) with an embedded DSP & CPU chip and integrated in our prototype portable projector. With this PCB, the projector is capable of displaying multiple PC desktop screens from remote PCs connected through a network on a single projector screen. In addition, using the DSP's ability to decode compressed audio and video signals, the projector can be used to display network video streaming. In order to minimize its size, the network interface is made detachable by using a network adaptor on a USB port. This architecture makes it highly configurable and easy to change its functions according to customers' needs. Following the description of its hardware and software architecture, we describe the method introduced to debug the system software with the final prototype board using the wireless network connection established through the USB wireless LAN network adaptor.

We propose an image stabilization system for video with large image fluctuation by estimating and correcting translation and rotation from the video. The fluctuation is handled separately as relative inter-frame motion and absolute intra-frame information, in order to suppress large fluctuation in the video sequence efficiently.

We evaluated viewing distance vs. TV size on visual fatigue using two kinds of visual content: a 42-inch PDP display (Experiments 1 and 2), and the effect of TV size on visual fatigue with a 65-inch PDP display (Experiment 3). The results indicate that optimum viewing distance for less visual fatigue lies between 165 and 220cm, indicating as a semi-absolute distance, rather than the strict relative distance like three times of the screen height (3H).

This paper presents an advanced spindle servo system with a disturbance observer for an optical disc drive. The system reduces steady state deviation to 0.2% or less with wide range of rotational speed and 50% variation of torque coefficient. Stable control by transient state was confirmed by changing low pass filter function.

this paper describes new features for TV sets using the Cell Broadband Engine^<TM>. One feature is the image super-resolution that converts standard definition to high definition image more vividly than conventional up-scaler. The other feature is the Multiple Video Playback that decodes and displays 48 video streams on the screen with optimized program.

This paper presents the technology for remote system updating that allows software updates in embedded systems such as mobile phones and car navigation systems. Software updates are carried out using binary difference, software construction, and fast compression technologies. In this paper, we focus on a fast BPE (byte pair encoding) method of encoding program codes in embedded systems and show the index of relations between the updating time and the downloaded data size

In this paper, we propose the wireless transmission for full specification high definition television. The proposed system employs next generation wireless system based on IEEE802.11 TGac. It works on the 5GHz band and has throughput over 1.5Gbps. In this system, a video data is compressed by JPEG 2000 with error resilience tools. These tools increase the error performance against wireless channel, and enable very high throughput communication. Computer simulation is used to evaluate the bit error performance's influences to the video quality.

With the explosive growth and ubiquity of the Internet, consumers are experiencing the benefits of accessing a large amount of digital information. The trend is evolving to include net-enabled DTVs in addition to PCs and mobile phones. Latest DTVs can support advanced networking and rendering functions useful to access and display a variety of Web content and information in addition to traditional TV. The DTV however presents particular usability problems and obstacles that in many cases result in bad user experience as demonstrated by multiple failed attempts to introduce web browsers in consumer AV devices. In this paper we summarize the key problems and challenges and propose as solution a context aware method to select web mini applications that provide customized content and information. Our method improves usability when compared with other methods based on web browsers or walled garden portals and provides compelling personalized content by taking into account consumer preferences and behavior.
