Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. Developed A4 size color laser printer "DocuPrint C 1616" and introduced it in market on December 13th. It is downsized and is able to print 16ppm(A4 SEF) by newly developed small tandem laser engine. It is capable of both high quality and high speed. We choose the technology and the way to print high-quality image from its features, and we classify them, then, report about them in this document.
In order to make easily to display, both the digital half toning and the computer generated holography have the binarization process. The error diffusion methods and the optimization techniques (i.e., simulated annealing, genetic algorithm, etc) is commonly utilized to binarization process for both tae digital halftoning and the digital holography. Simulated annealing effective to the optimization of both the point arrangement of the binary image with halftoning and the interference stripes in the computer generated hologram.
High-resolution LCDs with large work information area are required for PC and monitor applications. However, the high resolution leads to finer lines and smaller size in characters. In order to clarify the relationship between LCD resolution and character readability; the authors performed an ergonomic evaluation of character readability using a 15-inch XGA TFT-LCD (86ppi(pixel per inch)) and UXGA TFT-LCD (133ppi). The results indicated that the 15-inch UXCA offered superior readability. Additionally, we were able to clarify factors affecting readability, including the balance of character size and stroke width.
Recently, digital paper that can display and erase digital information has been investigated. In this study, the principle of displaying about the novel reflective display media by particle movement in electric field was discussed. The black and white particles are enclosed in the space between the two electrodes coated with the charge transport layer (CTL). By applying voltage to the electrodes, toner particle was moved to negative electrode. The switching of black and white display is carried out in the change of the polarity of the voltage. The black toner will be charged by contact with white particle in addition to the injection from positive electrode. By the microscopic observation on particle movement by applying voltage to plane electrode, the effect of triboelectrical charging on the display characteristics was discussed.
In order to realize a paper-like display using Polymer/liquid crystal composite films, we analyzed several factors related to the morphology in the films. In viewpoint of a reduction on the driving voltage, effects of alkyl side chain in the diacrylates have been investigated. Based on the results, we successfully produced a prototype paper-like display.
