Novice and information disturbed persons are increasing with the growing popularity to computer networking. On the other hands, the people wants to communicate on computer network need to use various network applications and to combine them. In these situations make the barrier of advanced network communication to the novice and information disturbed people. In this paper, we reports the analysis of this barrier which was investigated by the questionnaire to skilled users of the network communication.

In this paper, the algorithm to extract Euphausia sp. from the image which contains Euphausia sp. and foreign matters such as the marine algae is developed. First, the original image only with Euphausia sp. is decomposed into each RGB element. Second, color information of Euphausia sp. is calculated from the density histogram and statistical data. It shows that the R element appears to be converged to the area of high density value. By using this character, Euphausia sp. and foreign matters can be separated. The outline of Euphausia sp. is expressed by using P Fourier descriptor. Then, the evaluation function expressing the resemblance is defined by using it, and the shape characteristic is analyzed and considered. As a result, Euphausia sp. is classified into six basic groups of shape. Finally, it is shown by a experiment to extract Euphausia sp. from the image which contains Euphausia sp. and foreign matters, that the method is effective.

Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. has installed a video system, aimed at supervising unmanned substations and company-wide diffusion of such information. Transmitting video data requires high-speed transmission lines, resulting in high costs in structuring the video system. Application of MPEG 2 for the video system in the electric power industry was tested. The MPEG 2,with a high compressibility of the video data, features an economical and flexible system given the multi-vendor formation. In addition, the compatibility of the MPEG 2 produced by different vendors was also tested. The results revealed that the MPEG 2 was sufficient for application. No specific problems emerged while the MPEG 2 were mutually connected.

Toward the start of service in 2000,requirements for the BS digital broadcasting system are being studied now, and reagading HDTV, experimental results have showed that the quality of picture from MPEG-2 coding at the bit-rate of 22Mbps can meet the requirements for broadcasting. In this paper, with regard to the BS digital broadcasting of HDTV, a network configuration is assumed where MPEG-2 codecs are cascaded for every relaying trasnmission (contribution or primary distribution), and MPEG-2 coding at the bit-rate of 22Mbps is applied for the secondary distribution. Under this assumption, the characteristics of cascaded MPEG-2 HDTV codecs is evaluated, and we investigated the necessary coding parameters applied for relaying codecs to meet requirements for broadcasting from the viewpoint of bit-rate and coding functions.

Many of distributed virtual environment system adopt a client-server architecture. We have proposed a method of distributing the server function over multiple server machines. Assuming a virtual environment consists of multiple independent regions called scene, the method allocates one server for each scene. A client machine is connected one predetermined server machine. When a user belongs to a scene that is not managed by the user's server, the user's server operates like a proxy between the user machine and a server managing the user's inhabitant scene. This paper describes the operation of the servers, the result of scalability evaluation in terms of average communication delay and the dynamic characteristics of the delay in this configuration.

This article describes a new dynamic re-routing method of the real-time stream on the Internet. We assume the application level routing (i.e. relay servers) of the stream here. Firstly, the selection of the initial route of the stream is discussed. The rate of the stream packet loss can be measured and utilized as the best criteria for the decision of the initial route. Secondly, The rate of the stream packet loss and the dispersion of the stream arrival time can also be applied to keep the stream transmission rate stable. Through some experiments on the Internet and also on the dedicated test network, we have obtained some optimum parameter values for use with the above mentioned control methods.

For wireless video communication, transmission error incurs a distortion of decoded video. Therefore, error resilience has been studied from the viewpoints of both channel coding and video codec independently. To improve the error resilience of channel coding, the interleaving technology which transforms burst errors to random errors can be applied. However, a video codes is very vulnerable against random errors. In this paper, we propose a new channel coding scheme to get effective error resilience without loosing the error resilient capability of video codec.
