DWDM systems have been adopted as trunk line because of their large capacity. And further more, local networks, such as multimedia transmission systems inside the broadcasting stations, have started to adopt them. In such applications, a low-cost, compact, and simple DWDM system is required. We have developed integrated optical transmitter module that provides superior characteristics for 2.5Gbps, 100GHz spacing DWDM applications.

A multi-beam phased-array antenna is suitable to receive signals from multiple broadcast satellites. We have been conducting a fundamental study of a multi-beam receiving antenna using a flat antenna. In this paper, a configuration of the multi-beam receiving antenna and measured radiation patterns of an experimental two-beam antenna are described. We have verified that two beams separated 40 degrees are formed.

Single Frequency Network(SFN)is being considered as a major candidate for digital terrestrial broadcasting in Japan, although its single-frequency feature leads to interference towards receiving antennas causing deterioration in its performance. In this paper, a method to prevent this interference by using array antenna as receiving antennas and cancellation at base band has been presented. A feed-back method to improve its cancellation ability during operation is also presented. Simulation has been done confirming its effectiveness.

In this paper, we measured how human bodies affect to antennas for Portable Computer Terminals by using half wave dipole antenna, and how the display angle of Portable Computer Terminals affects to the characteristics of the antennas. Then the dipole antenna is attached to a note type PC, and we measured and discussed how the attached place and affects direction effects radiation directivity of the antenna. Furthermore a ceramic phantom in front of the note type PC on which the dipole antenna is attached, and we measure the directivity of the antenna. We showed and discussed that how the ceramic phantom effects to the antenna.

Recently, the adaptive antenna that can automatically control spatial gain is more necessary corresponding to wide spread of wireless communication. The adaptive antenna using SMI method needs the reference that has correlation with desired signal, and the known sequence UW(Unique Word)can be used as it. But the exact UW timing estimation is needed to avoid the performance degradation. Moreover, this antenna cannot suppress the interference due to the failure of recognition when UWs synchronize between interference and desired wave. In this paper, two-stage adaptive array antenna with SLC(SideLobe Canceller)-type preprocessing that suppresses all incident waves before the communication is proposed. Simulation results show that the interference is successfully suppressed although UWs are synchronized.

In this paper, we consider CMA adaptive arrays with digital phase shifters controlled by a genetic algorithm(GA). As an example, a 4-element circular array is considered. The element is a 50 ohm loaded dipole antenna. It is assumed that a π/4-shift-QPSK-modulated plane wave desired and undesired signal are incident from a horizontal plane directions. The received signal at each receiving antenna element is calculated by the method of moments where mutual coupling effects are taken into account, and is used as an input of the CMA adaptive processor and undesired signal rejection characteristics by GA are investigated.
