It was impossible for developers and consumers to determine exactly which multi-view display is really good because multiview displays have a wide variety of designs. It proved that the same crosstalk state (0-100%) can be realized between PDs (Proximity Dot) by giving the same viewpoint information to PD. It is possible to match the basic performance of multiple eyes (the number of viewpoints and the crosstalk state) if a multi-view display is made with PD as one viewpoint at various lens tilt angles. Therefore, it is possible to evaluate on the same standard. In this method, we propose the optimal lens (barrier) tilt angle of the multiview 3D display.

We propose a capturing method for integral 3-D imaging by using multi-viewpoint robotic cameras. When the camera operator captures a subject by using one of the robotic cameras, the region reproduced by the integral 3-D display is regulated in real space according to the subject’s position and view angle of the camera and multi-viewpoint images are captured in the minimum view angle which fits in the reproduced region and with high resolution through cooperative control of the other robotic camera’s pan, tilt, and zoom. 3-D models are reconstructed from complementary multi-viewpoint images captured by robotic cameras arranged in a two-dimensional array. Integral 3-D images are generated by converting the 3-D model into elemental images in which the camerawork is reproduced. Hi-quality live action integral 3-D contents can be created by the proposed method.

Visual functions of the elderly are gradually changing with age, and in general, the elderly perceives images differently from the younger. To give the same perception for the same image, a different image from an original image needs to be displayed to the elderly. In this paper, a method of generating the inverse characteristic of the image filter for the presbyopia is proposed. To this end, a serially-cascaded neural network model is proposed. The neural network is composed of 4 layers. The 4-layer neural network is divided into 2 blocks on the aspect of function. The upper and the lower layers play a role of simulating the image conversion and obtaining its opposite characteristic, respectively. The performance of the proposed framework is evaluated by the experiments on the image pre-conversion for the presbyopia.

For efficient 8K program production, we have developed a prototype 8K camcorder to evaluate the performance and workflow of 8K camcorder. The camcorder can compress 8K video at a frame frequency of 60 Hz in real time with AVC/H.264 encoders, and the compressed video can be recorded in four SD memory cards. The camera head unit equips a 33-megapixel CMOS image sensor that used in conventional 8K single-chip cameras. The captured image has limiting resolution of 3200 TV lines, sensitivity of F8 at 2000 lux, and SN ratio of 54dB. Moreover, PSNR measurement experiment of compressed image was carried out and it was 45.9 dB at the compression rate of 1/80 and 44.0 dB at 1/240.

We developed an 8K/120 Hz editing system based on the existing 8K/60Hz editing machine. To realize this system, we developed new frame rate converters functioning between 60 Hz and 120 Hz, and an interface converter to be installed at the input and output of the existing 8K/60 Hz editing machine. In addition, the editing software was modified to ensure that 8K/120Hz video clips can be edited on a 120 Hz timeline. This editing system significantly improved the throughput of the 8K/120 Hz editing workflow by reducing the input/output time. We validated the 8K/120Hz editing function of this system through actual video content editing work.
